25.01.2022 Forward thinking and helping kids in need is important to Zinfra, with our Power Projects Team recently initiating an innovative way to raise $15,000 for Variety SA. Funds were generated through the replacement of 61km of earth wire with fibre optic cable to improve communication for #ElectraNet across its South Australian electrical transmission network. The old scrap metal was subsequently sold and the money donated to Variety SA to assist children in need. Well done to Dallas Auld, Zinfra Construction Manager (pictured left) and the amazing crew who made it all happen.

25.01.2022 Zinfra utilised its strong capabilities in the power sector to deliver an excellent outcome on a complex project for TransGrid and Centennial Coal, as part of the extension of the underground operations for the Mandalong Mine. TransGrid engaged Zinfra to relocate a 2.4km section of its 330kV transmission line (TL24), including the removal of 12 existing steel towers and the installation of eight new steel towers situated on a new alignment, to enable the extension plans for t...he mine. Highlights of this project included assembly and erection of two 65m steel lattice towers and construction of one of the largest cruciform foundations involving extensive pre-planning for a continuous pouring of approximately 500m of concrete. Proactive and effective stakeholder management was essential throughout the project, as well as undergoing rigorous safety and quality checks. During this project, we had three quality audits. There was an external auditor employed by TransGrid, an internal audit carried out by Zinfras safety team, and an additional corporate audit that was undertaken by the Zinfra head office, Zinfra Project Manager, Rebecca Hampson, said. Zinfra gained possession of the site on 9 October 2017 and achieved completion mid-September 2018, ahead of the expected twelve month construction period.

17.01.2022 What an amazing effort! A total of $46,505 was raised by Zinfra teams as part of the Very Special Kids 24 Day Challenge that saw participants complete 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 24 days straight. This money will provide 37 bed nights in the Very Special Kids Hospice for children with a life limiting condition. Here are some photos from our participants.

17.01.2022 Purge burner in action! Since early February the Zinfra Gas Projects Team have been working to relocate over 1.5 km of 6 secondary steel gas main as part of works for Jemena to extend the M1 Princes Motorway between Yallah and Oak Flats to bypass Albion Park Rail. The bypass will complete the missing link for a new and improved road between Sydney and Bomaderry. As part of the decommissioning process for these works, the old gas main required the high pressure gas contained within it to be purged, so the gas main could be safely cut, capped and taken out of service.

16.01.2022 Would you know what to say if someone said ‘no’ when you asked them ‘are you OK?’. Today is national RU OK? Day and it feels more poignant than ever, given the last twelve months have included bushfires, floods, and now COVID-19. RU OK? Day is a reminder that we should be asking friends and family every day if they are ok and now there is advice on how to handle their responses. The RU OK Day team has produced a new guidebook which provides advice on how to keep conversations going, asking the right questions, and active listening. The guide also contains tips, ideas, and resources on what to say after ‘R U OK?’ We’re encouraging all members of our teams to support RU OK? Day by wearing yellow and accessing the free guide, https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day
