25.01.2022 This is a great little book to teach children aged 3-5 years that hands are not for hitting. Today we did an activity with a Little Zing after reading this to make our own list (with some cute pictures) of what we use hands for and it’s going straight on the fridge for easy reference. We also thought, maybe somethings are for hitting - like a pillow or a foam mat (if we feel we need to). It’s ok to feel cranky, but it’s not ok to hit people (or animals of course). We also used some play to reinforce this message and mum is going to continue the play based strategy at home.

13.01.2022 It is beyond me why music education is not highly supported and funded in schools. The benefits are endless and creates brains that are synchronised and fire together.

13.01.2022 My amazing staff (Madison, Naomi and PEARL). We had a great time talking to young people about the pathways to becoming a psychologist. Thanks so much for having us! Pearl got the pats of a life time.

12.01.2022 The Voice Singing School and Carolyn Seri Psychology Children and Adults are excited for their upcoming "Music Speaks" workshop int Townsville (19th and 20th September). This workshop is a perfect holiday activity for young people aged 12-18 years. With a focus on confidence, growth mindset, music, confidence and singing this jam packed weekend is sure to build some skills. You don't have to be a great singer, just have a love of singing (we will have different ranges of experience attending). If you have private health or NDIS funding you may also be able to make use of this to help cover the costs. Get in touch for more details. :)

11.01.2022 This is such a great initiative!!

11.01.2022 Such a lovely way to spend time teaching kids how to be calm.... take it in and breathe !! I love sessions where we get to go out.

10.01.2022 I love to roll with the incredible imaginative games kids come up with. This session focused in building self awareness and self esteem while supporting a connection with trust and respect. Other goals were being focused on one activity for extended time, planning, building, problem solving, sharing, communicating, laughing. I wonder now, why are remote control cars so much fun??

09.01.2022 Mother's Day is a celebration for many. A mother extends beyond the traditional sense of a mum. A mother is someone who cares, loves unconditionally, supports, cheers on and so much more. It's a happy day for many but also can be a reflective or sad day. Whatever it is for you, cherish the relationships around you, invest in them, love and support your village. The connections that children form with caregivers are what shapes them for life. Happy Mother's Day in whatever way that means for you.

08.01.2022 Working on my new book. I needed an offline tool to introduce my characters. Dilly is calming down with a butterfly hug :)

08.01.2022 I have a huge love of music and am using it more and more in my practice. I recently read "The Power of Music." Music has countless benefits both on mental health and functional capacity. To date there are incredible studies into stroke and dementia patients who respond to music when no medical or other therapies are effective. This has extended and shown to benefit many people. The amazing team from The Voice Singing School have during school hours availability for schools and adults - singing is an incredible way to spend your time - everyone can enjoy it. Visit their page and get in touch. https://www.amazon.com.au/Power-Music-Pioneeri//B005122XGG

04.01.2022 Not just LEGO - it’s learning to work as a team, sharing, communicating, problem solving, attention and focus, following instructions, fine motor skills, patience, many teachable moments, lots of success in the building and play, imagination, transitioning and packing up when it’s time to finish. LEGO is my new favourite - and how cool their boats float!! Get for building bonds and relationships.

04.01.2022 One of Pearl’s friends has taught her to roll over. So beautiful to watch a young person connect with Pearl and feel so proud teaching her a new skill. Good dog!!

01.01.2022 Children need to feel heard and valued, just like adults do. Setting kids up to succeed in the long run is our responsibility as parents, educations, health care professionals.
