22.01.2022 One of the best things about being a mum to girls is dressing them up. They don’t let me have much of a say these days but when they were really little I took the job quite seriously. I used to purchase new matching nightgowns or pyjamas each Christmas Eve. We had all kinds from gingham to satin and I reluctantly agreed to horrible synthetic Little Mermaid ones when they were about 4 . Believe it or not, at ages 18 and 19 they still do new matching pjs for Christmas Ev...e and these will fit the Bill nicely this year. 15.01.2022 One of the many challenges of 2020 has been the inability to visit our factories due to travel restrictions. What was once a fun and interesting process of design and selection has become more tedious and time consuming. Our meetings in person, where we get to touch and feel samples and work on ranges over several days, are instead now long video chats and endless reels of instant messages and photos. Weve really missed the face to face interaction with our suppliers, whom... over the last 10 years have become good friends, and we wonder if things will ever return to the way they were. Weve held our breath as container loads of products we havent actually seen have landed, and while there have been some small surprises is that really the colour we ordered?, for the most part things have been going ok and in some cases there have even been really happy accidents! In truth, when I step back and look at how our suppliers have adapted to what for now seems a new reality, has been pretty extraordinary as we all pivot and just keep swimming. Our new lamps arrived last week and we are pleased to say that the colours are completely true to what we specified. Phew! . A lovely Bondi customer shared this image of her new Blue Double Gourd Lamp resting in his forever home. It gave us such a kick to see the end result of our new process. This particular blue is an example of something which actually turned out to be more beautiful than we could have predicted. 05.01.2022 Different colours effect our mood feelings, and even behaviours. The colour pink, for example, is thought to be a calming. It is often associated with love, kindness, and femininity. Colour preferences are often linked to past experiences. People who are drawn to pink tend to have pleasant memories of the colour. For me pink evokes feelings of excitement and happiness as I remember seeing my first two wheeler bike for the first time - a fuscia pink Malvern Star. I Dream of Jeannie (always in pink) was my favourite TV show, and to my pink themed 13th birthday party I wore a Fuscia long sloppy joe dress with matching leggings and a side pony tail. 03.01.2022 This week we have received a new delivery of the Italian cutlery we are all obsessed with. We first came across this brand at a trade fair in Paris a few years ago. We had literally walked for hours through hall after hall of cutlery purveyors in order to find a brand that combined two features essential to Zjoosh- beauty and functionality. When we found EME, it was as though the pieces had been made especially for our stores. For those of you who know me, it will come as n...o surprise that they had me at dishwasher proof. Life is too short after all! EME cutlery is made with passion and precision in the largest cutlery factory in Europe in the city of Lumezzane, just a few kilometres east of Milan. From their vast range we selected a stainless steel design with a pearl coloured handles with a baroque vintage look.
