25.01.2022 This email has gone to all PCA NSW members. Covid-19 across the State As you would all be aware many of our members are in lockdown under the NSW Health restrictions. Full details can be found via the link on our website or via NSW Health on what you can and cannot do in NSW.... For those members who are in lockdown please be mindful that NSW Police are issuing fines for breaches of the Public Health Orders therefore if you are in one of these areas you may only leave your home for one of activities posted on the NSW Health website or to take care of your horse. Do not travel to attend rally days, camps, lessons or competitions if you live in or someone you live with works in one of the Local Government Areas listed. Members in rural or regional NSW may continue to participate in community sport under Covid-19 restrictions which include mandated wearing of face masks in indoor and outdoor venues. The state office is in contact with NSW Health and Office of Sport and will update members with details as available. State Showjumping Championships With the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation in the Sydney area, the PCANSW Executive have made the decision to postpone the 2021 State Showjumping Championships. The safety of not only our members but the greater community is of the utmost importance, and we all need to play our part. Although Bowral is outside of the current stay at home order area, over 40% of our competitors and 70% of our officials are currently in lockdown in the Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour areas. Unfortunately, despite our greatest efforts, this leaves the event unfeasible to run as a true State Championship event. We ask that all competitors leave their entries as is for now we are working closely with the host zone to find another date to run this event in the near future. If you are unable to attend the new date you will be eligible for a refund. This will significantly ease pressure on your Zone volunteers, as entries will simply be transferred to the new date. The Executive Committee is aware that the postponement of the event will create challenges to the selection of NSW teams for the PCA Nationals. We are looking into ways to address those challenges in the manner fairest to all eligible members. We thank you for your support at this time. Communication Policy Members are reminded not to speak to the media or comment on social media regarding any alleged breaches of NSW Public Health Orders, all communication should come through the PCA NSW State Office. Stay safe Kerren Britton Executive Officer

24.01.2022 Is the next Olympic rider warming up now at a Pony Club somewhere in Australia? At only 21, Philippa Glennan of Emu Creek Pony Club (Vic) was the first woman selected in an Australian 3DE Olympic eventing team. Like Andrew Hoy and Wendy Schaeffer, she rode her Pony Club mount. Who will be ours??

24.01.2022 Anyone interested in entering a HC horse for the other two rounds of SJ on the Riders Cup SJ day at Kurrajong on Sunday 11.10 please contact me ASAP. Must be C grade or above, $40 for the extra 2 rounds.

24.01.2022 **Cancellation of State Championships** It is with enormous regret that Pony Club Association NSW advises of its decision to cancel all 2020 State Championships.... PCANSW had hoped to follow the revised schedule for 2020 to maintain an air of positivity for our sport, regrettably the time has come for us to concede that this is not possible. PCANSW have participated in a number of all-sport briefings with the NSW Government to receive the latest information from NSW Health and the Acting Minister of Sport. The advice at the last meeting was to ‘avoid large, inter-regional championships’. On Monday 17th August 2020, PCANSW received the advice of before the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, which requested that all community sport organisations cease any activities that result in overnight stays due to increased risk of COVID transmission in these situations for a period of six (6) weeks commencing 19th August 2020. Three of the re-scheduled State Championship events fell within the six-week period to the which restrictions currently apply, with further events scheduled to occur with the 4 weeks following on from the current restriction. Acknowledging that this is a dynamic situation and recognising that the present restrictions are likely to be extended further, it was felt that the appropriate response would be to cancel all State Championship events for the remainder of 2020. This decision has not been made lightly as PCANSW recognises the broader responsibility we have to contribute positively to stop the transmission of COVID within NSW. PCANSW would like to recognise the enormous effort that goes into the planning and preparation of these events for organising committees, volunteers, competitors, and families. We understand that there will be disappointment because of this decision, however, it was felt that members would benefit most from clear directives for the remainder of 2020. 2020 has been a year that none of us will forget in a hurry, with drought, fires, flood and now COVID so affecting some many of our members, and now the cancellation of State Championships. PCANSW will now re-focus our activities towards providing further training and development opportunities for members for the balance of the year and planning for 2021.

18.01.2022 Riders Cup has Pony Club Jumping into Spring After making the difficult decision to cancel our State Championships for the remainder of 2020, Pony Club NSW h...as established the PCANSW Riders Cup a showjumping challenge where riders can compete within their zones whilst testing their skill against riders across the State. Inspired by the FEI Childrens Challenge, this allows our riders to get out and compete in a fun and covid-safe manner and keep themselves and their horses active. International Course Designer John Vallance has generously designed all of our courses for the Riders Cup. All events will be run between the 3rd and 11th of October, with State results announced shortly after the conclusion of all events. Our unique club network of around 250 clubs has given Pony Club NSW the depth of experience and knowledge within our membership base to allow for 18 different clubs and zones to host the event from Coffs Harbour in the North, to Bega in the South, and as far West as Dubbo and Jindera. Every host club will receive a $200 grant from Pony Club NSW as well as providing much needed fundraising and sponsorship opportunities for these clubs. Many clubs have missed out on income from their canteen and their yearly fundraising events such as Gymkhanas and raffles, and the bills to keep the club running keep coming in. Pony Club NSW Official Nutrition Partner Ranvet has come on board as a major sponsor of the Riders Cup event, they will be providing place getters with their Australian Made Nutritional Supplements, merchandise and more! We are very thankful to have the support of such a wonderful company that supports our up and coming riders. It has been a tough year for everyone, however with much of our membership base coming from rural and regional NSW we have particularly sympathised with our members affected by drought, bushfires and floods throughout 2020 and hope that the Riders Cup will provide our members with the sense of community that Pony Club is all about whilst still being covid-safe. 01.01.2022 Please see below link for an update from the Office of Sport and Dr Kerry Chant and attached information from Sport NSW, regarding non-essential travel within t...he state and its impact on community sport. As per Dr Chants recommendations the PCA NSW State Executive will conduct a full review on the viability of this years State Championships and confirm the outcome as soon as possible via a separate communication. However at this it is highly likely that all 2020 State Championships may be cancelled, not just those in to be held in the next six to eight weeks. As per the recommendations club activities may still go ahead under certain conditions as long as clubs have up to date Covid Safety Plans and complete a risk assessment for each activity to determine the risk to attendees regarding these recommendations. PCA NSW recommends that in addition to all Covid Safe Practices including staying home if you are unwell, restriction of participants from affected areas, social distancing and good hygiene attendees that attendees wear face masks when not riding, this includes all spectators and volunteers on the grounds. Clubs must cease any activities that result in overnight stays (camps) due to increased risk of COVID transmission with shared facilities. Ceasing of zone, regional or state championships or competitions for the next six weeks as these activities bring together participants including spectators and officials from different regions of the state. Riders who have nominated for the immediately affected State Championships will receive full refunds and nominations for further championships have been suspended until a risk assessment is completed by the State Executive for the balance of the years activities. Zones hosting Regional Schools, Instructor Schools and Assessments must review their Covid Safety Plans and risk assessments to determine the viability of the activity under these recommendations. As these activities have limits on attendees and do not include overnight stays/camping for participants they may go ahead with extra Covid precautions to be taken, including the wearing of face masks by all attendees when not riding. 01.01.2022 Are You Okay? Are your family and friends okay? These are tough times and some people are really struggling to cope. Today is a reminder to ask others how they... are doing, even if they look okay on the outside. They might just need to talk things over and have someone listen. It's also time to think and talk about suicide prevention. It's okay to talk about it. PCA has been all about 'Be Connected' during the COVID-19 pandemic. RUOK Day is a reminder to check in on your mates. And if they say they are not okay, check out the second photo, ask RUOK? and start by listening to them.
