21.01.2022 For a long time, we have been calling for non-Aboriginal people to listen to what we are saying and not speak over us, or for us. One great way for us to have a... voice and be visible is via social media. That’s why Djirra is seizing this opportunity during 16 Days of Activism to amplify Aboriginal women’s voices and visibility. Today, we hear from our CEO, Antoinette Braybrook, with a video message about what you can do to support our campaign. As Antoinette says, please use your platform to help us Orange the World with our messages and important calls. Everyone has the potential to amplify Aboriginal voices and provide many sources of information for non-Aboriginal people to learn more about what matters to us and support our self-determination. Please share our posts and support our calls so that we can address the devastating impacts of violence against Aboriginal women and children. If you can, please support Djirra with a donation via our GiveNow - so that we can continue our important work supporting Aboriginal women and children’s safety and wellbeing. *On a sidenote, the beautiful painting you see in the background is by our multitalented Antoinette. #16days #16DaysOfActivism #16DaysOfActivism2020 #WAFV2020 #orangetheworld #supportsurvivors #endviolence #WhyWeWalk #OrangeTheWorld #Djirra #SharingStoriesFindingSolutions #OurVoiceOurVisbility #CulturalStrength #WomensBusiness #SistersStandStrong #KooriWomensPlace #SistersDayOut #DeadlyDuos #IAmNotTheProblem #WeHaveTheSolutions #AboriginalWomensLivesMatter #DontSilenceTheViolence #StandingFirmAgainstFamilyViolence #SelfDetermination #BLM #BlackLivesMatter #SaveFVPLS #HereForYou #StrongTogether #OrangeIsNotTheNewBlack

05.01.2022 HOW DID THE #16DaysOfActivism COME ABOUT? The Mirabal Sisters, political activists whose deaths were commemorated with the establishment of The International Da...y for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. On 25 November 1960, sisters Patria, Minerva and Maria Teresa Mirabal, three political activists who actively opposed the cruelty and systematic violence of the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic, were clubbed to death and dumped at the bottom of a cliff by Trujillo’s secret police. The Mirabal sisters became symbols of the feminist resistance, and in commemoration of their deaths 25 November was declared International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in Latin America in 1980. This international day was formally recognised by the United Nations in 1999. Commemorating 60 years since their deaths. #ZontaSaysNO
05.01.2022 A great initiative.
04.01.2022 As Zontians, we envision a world where no woman or girl lives in fear of violence. Together, we take a stand and say NO to gender-based violence. Check out our window display and the ASSG Z club window display in Gill Street as part of the 16 days of activism. #zontasaysno #zontacharterstowers #orangeyourworld
