25.01.2022 We are living through an epidemic one that has been affecting the lives of women and children across Australia. Like all epidemics it has victims and survivor...s. On Friday evening, inspiring victim-survivor, Rosie Batty, will have much more to say about how society has changed since she spoke these words in her acceptance speech for 2015 Australian of the Year. Join Rosie and White Ribbon Australia executive director, Brad Chilcott, to listen, learn and act to #EndGenderedViolence. This White Ribbon Night we are going to explore the future for this new chapter of our movement that is #MoreThanAPledge. This is a free online event. You need to book to obtain your Zoom link. 23.01.2022 In my last post as Governor for 2018-20 I'm delighted to provide us all with some good news. The District 23 Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship has been ...awarded to Britney Pham, nominated by the Zonta Club of Melbourne's East. In Britney's application she writes "I am really grateful to be an Australian student with liberties and rights that unfortunately not all women are able to share. This privilege is something that always motivates me to demonstrate servant leadership and advocate for the amelioration of lives around the world, whether it be for the single mothers in my own district who struggle to meet education and healthcare costs, or young girls overseas fighting for their freedom of speech and marriage." As we all know our YWPA recipients are exceptional young women, and Britney is no exception. Congratulations! More good news. District 23 has been honoured by Zonta International with recognition for the 2018 - 2020 biennium for: *100% of clubs donating to the Zonta International Foundation *Chartering of 2 or more Z & Golden Z Clubs A great effort across the district. Thank you all. I now sign off as Governor for 2018 -2020. It's been a pleasure and an absolute privilege to have served in this role for the past two years. Thank you all for your amazing dedication to Zonta through your clubs and our district. Sincerely, in service and advocacy, Jane Adornetto Governor 2018-2020

17.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS! Members serving on the 2020-2022 District 23 team were heartily congratulated and acknowledged by the club at Tuesday's meeting: Tyril (Area 3 ...Director) and Jo (PR&C Chairman) were there in person. Our D23 Secretary Kimberley always lives life to the full and even though she was holidaying on an island off Dampier with her soulmate, she still managed to get in touch to say, "D23 secretary duties done today between beach combing and fishing." (We're thinking.... does Kimberley have her own satellite??) See more

16.01.2022 A big thank you to Zonta Bendigo for a generous donation of $4000 to CNV, which will help us provide practical support to women and children who are victim/surv...ivors of family and domestic violence during COVID-19. Zonta Bendigo members were concerned about the increased risk and further isolation of women during the global coronavirus pandemic. The funds have allowed us to purchase vouchers for women and children to buy practical items such as groceries, clothing and petrol. The vouchers are also being used to help make this time less difficult for example, toys and games for children, special food items to support positive family times and other items that ease the challenges of family violence and isolation. Pictured are CNV client services general manager Yvette Jaczina with Ann Horrocks of Zonta, in the Bendigo Conservatory Gardens Zonta rose garden. Thank you, Zonta Bendigo
