25.01.2022 If someone you know has experienced violence and abuse, take the time to listen to them. It may take years for them to reach out for support so, when they do, l...isten without interrupting or talking too much. Don't blame them for what happened - no matter the situation, violence is never OK. For more information on how to respond to someone who has told you of their experience of sexual assault or domestic violence, visit the 1800RESPECT website: https://www.1800respect.org.au/help-and-/supporting-someone #16Responses #16Days #OrangeTheWorld

22.01.2022 On White Ribbon Day today, we want all South Australians to know that support is available for anyone who may be experiencing domestic violence and we’re aski...ng everyone to remain vigilant during the state’s six-day circuit breaker lockdown. Even though we’re asking people to stay at home, South Australians should know that if they are experiencing violence or abuse at home, they can leave, if they believe it is safe to do so. If you see or hear anything out of the ordinary, report it. All critical DV services are continuing and anyone experiencing violence at home, or is feeling threatened or unsafe, can call one of the many available DV hotlines and seek support and in an emergency, call Triple Zero. 07.01.2022 16 Days and lots to do

06.01.2022 As we travel through our 16 Days give thought to how you can support migrant and refugee women within our community.

03.01.2022 Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and the first day of the 16 Days of Activism global campaign. This year's theme is... Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect! Today, join us in raising awareness and supporting services by wearing orange, walking against violence, and sharing information about prevention and support. For more information on 16 Days, visit the UN Women website: https://www.unwomen.org//e/take-action/16-days-of-activism During 16 Days, we'll be sharing tips on how to respond to someone who has experienced violence and abuse. We invite you to share them across social media with the hashtag #16Responses. We'll also be recognising the 10th anniversary of the 1800RESPECT service. In 2010, 1800RESPECT began as the national counselling service under the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children, providing information, referrals and counselling to anyone living in Australia who has experienced violence and abuse. We'll share information about our service and how we have responded to sexual assault, domestic and family violence in Australia. #10Years1800RESPECT #16Days #OrangeTheWorld

03.01.2022 We put a lot of effort into stopping the boats - how much effort do we put into stopping the trafficking of women & girls? 80% of the estimated 800,000 people trafficked across national borders annually are women and girls, with the majority trafficked for sexual exploitation. The Zonta Club of Adelaide Torrens is passionate about making our world a safer place for ALL women and girls - join us in the fight!!!

02.01.2022 Message from SA Health this morning: If you are worried about your safety, you can leave your home to escape harm, or the risk of harm. This includes harm relating to family violence or violence of somebody else at your home.
