20.01.2022 Today is World Human Rights Day, marking the end of 16 Days of Activism. Our Club would like to take the opportunity to thank our community partners for working with us during the 16 Days of Activism campaign. In order to fully recover from COVID-19 and build a better future for women and girls, we must commit to working together and ensuring that human rights are at the forefront of recovery efforts, said Zonta International President Sharon Langenbeck. We also take this o...pportunity to spread awareness of the range of resources available for victims of domestic violence, and homeless women in regional Queensland, including our wallet cards produced earlier this year: Townsville City Council: https://www.townsville.qld.gov.au//domestic-and-family-vio The Lady Musgrave Trust Handy Guide for Homeless Women in Regional Queensland: https://ladymusgravetrust.org.au//Lady-Musgrave-Trust-Hand North Queensland Domestic Violence Resource Centre: https://nqdvrs.org.au/resources/ #16days #humanrightsday #ZontaSaysNO

14.01.2022 The Zonta Club of Townsville Metro collected toiletries and packed them for distribution to local women’s refuges. This can be so important for someone who has to seek shelter, often in the middle of the night with no time to pack. The toiletry bags were presented to representatives in November and December during the 16 Days of activism. A huge thank you to local dentist practices Cameron&Co Dental, Dentist on Paxton Townsville and 1300SMILES who supported our Club by donating dental products #ZontaSaysNo #16Days
