12.01.2022 If your dog can't recall away from other dogs he needs to be on a lead/line If your dog runs up to strange dogs he needs to be on a lead/line If your dog ...jumps up on people he needs to be on a lead/line If your dog can't recall away from livestock he needs to be on a lead/line If you find yourself shouting "It's ok, he just wants to play" your dog needs to be on a lead/line If your dog is likely to be spooked by sudden noises he needs to be on a lead/line If your dog lunges at traffic he needs to be on a lead/line We all want our dogs to have the freedom to explore and run but letting them off lead before they are ready runs huge risks for them. A 5m or 10m long line gives your dog loads of freedom to explore safely and allows you to prevent what you don't want (chasing, approaching strange dogs, bolting) while being able to reinforce what you do want (checking in with you and returning to you). Giving them too much freedom, too soon at best creates bad habits and at worse risks their safety, even their lives. Keep your dog safe; keep them on a lead/line.
