23.01.2022 400 Thunder PRO Slammer Racer Geoff Gradden, after more than a year with the Covid19 layoff, was back on track with the Saratoga Doorslammer last weekend. On Friday January 8th Geoff entered the Summernats Slam in Sydney and came home with all of his PB records broken. Following some damage to the clutch in qualifying they missed round 1 replacing the clutch and so were out of the pointscore for the day. Fortunately the 3 round format allowed Geoff to continue to other roun...ds and in round 2 he laid down a 5.76 second mile a new PB. In round 3 he backed it up and lowered his PB to 5.74 despite carrying the front wheels for over 150 feet and needed a pedal to get the car away from the centreline. This was the first time for Geoff over 200mph to half track and first time over 250mph (400km/hr) at full track. What a great result, and Geoff says the credit goes to the Sigra crew - Mick, David, Tim, Mitch, Waldo and Bill, putting in a 16 hour day and all went home on their last legs Geof also wants to say a big Thank you Sydney Dragway, for the awesome new track and congratulations to Mark Hinchelwood driving for Fabietti racing on winning the event.

20.01.2022 For Immediate Release Willowbank Raceway - New Year’s Thunder - Cancelled ... The continuing uncertainty around state border closures has caused Willowbank Raceway to re-evaluate the viability of conducting a 400 Championship round in January when we are unsure which interstate competitors will be allowed to attend the event. At this time, the Queensland borders remain closed to greater Sydney and Victoria, and together with the recent announcement around border closures to South Australia, and in turn, this has left WRI with no choice but to cancel the New Year’s Thunder event. Blair Conaghan, CEO of Willowbank Raceway stated The situation around the Covid-19 pandemic has created a large degree of uncertainty, which has been difficult for us all to plan around. While all endeavours have been made to plan and host the New Year’s Thunder event on the 9th of January 2021, the ongoing situation with state border closures has made that impossible. We therefore regrettably announce that this event will not proceed. We look forward to some improvement around these current restrictions and the resumption of the 400 Thunder Championship round at Willowbank Raceway on Good Friday at Easter. Blair continued. While we are unable to proceed with the scheduled 400 Thunder Championship round, we are working towards issuing a further release in the immediate future around the planning of an alternative high profile event involving Queensland based professional competitors. These racers are keen to put on a high quality exciting event for our fans on the 9th of January 2021. Stay tuned for this announcement. Following the announcement today by the Queensland Government of a mandatory 3-day lockdown for greater Brisbane, w...hich includes the Ipswich region, unfortunately we have no option but to immediately cancel both the Test Day scheduled for later today and the event on Saturday the 9th of January 2021 in order to keep our fans and racers safe. 08.01.2022 Sydney Dragway would like to say a massive thank you for everyone involved in helping Sydney Dragway get back to racing. We personally would like to thank every...one who donated tyres to help get our race track ready. At the latest count, Aeroflow had delivered 34 tyres including brand new sets to help get the rubber down. A massive thank you to the Edison’s Team for coming and volunteering their time and equipment to get our venue ready. Edisons On Saturday 28 November we had our first Test n Tune back at Sydney Dragway and to say the day was killa is a understatement! We can’t thank our staff, officials and racers for coming out on such a hot day. We appreciate you all!

The Brand New Drive-it Driver Education facility and Motorsport Complex including a State of the Art Drag Racing facility at Townsville has just received $10,000,000 dollars in funding from the QLD Government.
