18.01.2022 I am excited to announce the launch of my new Paediatric Physiotherapy practice! After working with children and teens with varied needs in the community and hospital environments for 12+ years, I will be offering centre based and community visits for children and teens starting in term 3. See my facebook page with new logo and information about the service! Website to be launched by the start of term 3 www.abrightchoice.com.au I will be working within 'A Bright Choice' al...ongside my colleagues Naomi Fahey Quick with her practice 'Thrive Children's Occupational Therapy Service' and Trish Ochsenham's practice 'Burnside Speech Pathology' for a team based approach for 0-6 year old Early Intervention clients at Kent Town. For school aged children, 'A Bright Choice' will work closely with my husband Darryl's well established practice 'Write Intervention Occupational Therapy for kids' and will offer services from Walkerville therapy rooms and in the community for those clients in the North Eastern suburbs. Email [email protected] with any queries

14.01.2022 Coordination problems, awkward clumsy kids, they'll grow out of it right? Actually these problems with motor abilities are shown to have detrimental effects on many children's confidence, motivation and self esteem especially into the teen years. So if we're serious about our kids keeping active and participating in physical activity, these problems should be checked. 5-15% of the population have coordination and motor dyspraxia (difficulty learning movement), 5% of those have significant problems meaning they usually cannot participate with their peers. Commonly termed Developmental Coordination Disorder where motor abilities are significantly below intellect and other skills. Let's get these kids moving, stronger, more balanced and coordinated so they can participate!!
