21.01.2022 I didnt have a great week this week. I was feeling a bit dissatisfied with myself, feeling like Id failed. Ill be honest, I let it get the best of me for a few days. I stopped trying. Do you know what though? Wallowing really doesnt make anything any better, it achieves nothing but to make you feel worse. Its hard to remember sometimes that despite your best efforts you cant win all the time. Even though you put 100% into something it doesnt actually mean its going to... work. If its something you love though why stop trying? The things of greatest value are often the hardest won... Ive lost track of where that quote is from but I believe every word of it! #resilience is a massively important skill not only will it colour your attitude to social, personal and professional interactions but it also sets the tone of how you deal with the world around you in general. I was raised to be resilient and Im super thankful for that. Yep I get ground down every now and again but today I not only picked myself back up again but I picked up this 110kg beast too only 2 months after being totally unable to get my hamstrings to fire. Everyone is going to be a little different depending on body type, strengths, imbalances and proprioception. For me (motor moron!) I focus a fair bit on integration: getting the muscles involved in my various stabilising systems fired up and working together. Ive been teaching Remedial massage for over six years now and one of the things Im most passionate about is ensuring that practitioners take the time to explain to their clients WHY they are feeling pain. Lets get something straight right now: living in pain isnt normal. Pain is the bodys way of letting you know that something is wrong / something needs to change. ... The body is an adaptive organism; it responds to the loads placed upon it, what you put in to it and the environment you place it in. These are all choices... let me say that again- These are all choices! Corrective exercise teamed with appropriate bodywork has the ability rectify nearly all postural dysfunction and therefore stop the pain that those dysfunctions cause the sufferer. 02.01.2022 Its so easy to take what you have for granted. Its easy to get caught up in lifes little wins and fails. Today is one of the very few where we are asked to think about the bigger picture. - When I was young I knew that both my grandfathers had fought in the war; one flew spitfires and one fixed bombers. I was was told that my grandpa who worked on the harriers (bombers) had been shot down over occupied territory and take as a prisoner of war. That he was march around a lo...t. - Ive only just started to learn about this part of his history in greater detail and its sadly after I can no longer talk to him about his experiences. - As it turns out my grandpa was held as a PoW at Stalag v111b Lamsdorf. He was then, in the last 4 months of the march a part of what has been called (by many names) but is mostly know as the long march or the death march. - In this march around 30,000 PoWs were force marched across Germany and Poland in the worst winter seen in the 20th century. They had already been starved for years, had no additional clothing, no medical care and no shelter. Many died of exposure and disease. - Its reported that those who did survive (thankful my Grandpa was one of the lucky few) had been marched somewhere between 500-1000 miles in 4 months in temperatures that hit -25c. - I wish I had been able to speak to my Grandpa about this. And I wish I could have thanked him for his sacrifices. - Everyday we live under the protection of those who give up their way of life to afford us ours. In so many cases lives are lost. - Today we remember and we say THANK YOU. See more

For those of you who get a tight sensation, which can some times be a little burning this type of non invasive treatment can yield fantastic results. - Did you know that your connective tissue can be just as restricted (and restrictive) as your muscles can be!? ... . These tissues all work together to produce movement and stabilise your joints. If your connective tissue is restricted then your muscle will be too! . Cupping is a fantastic treatment for both structures as primarily it flushes the localised tissue with nutrient rich fluid (inc blood). This contains the building blocks of what the body needs to regenerate. . Also cupping marks are not bruises. It just marks an area where there is more fluid in the interstitial tissue, ready to be used.
