18.01.2022 STRAIGHT FROM THE NEWSLETTER ~ if you arent already on the list, heres a little preview... 1 Speak Out Loud Anyone else going to admit they have the odd conversation out loud when alone in the car or shower? Well.. we encourage you! Except- do it in your target language. Forcing yourself to talk about real & relevant things completely away from your notebook and a dictionary? Its a hack- you can thank us later. 2Keep a Notebook On Hand Did you know that the ph...ysical act of taking pen to paper has been proven to help you connect more closely with the material? (Weve also heard some questionable stats on blue pen effectiveness..but well let you research that). Notebooks are incredible for in the moment words that you never seem to come up with in the classroom! Jot them down: were ALWAYS happy to help with those words. 3Use Language Apps and Games We have so many different apps available to us these days (honorific mention to Duolingo & HelloTalk- both of which were completely obsessed with). Next time youre killing hours at work, sitting alone on the bus, or using the bathroom (we dont judge ) dont be afraid to whip out a game and call it education 4Get Your Notifications in Your Target Language OK, so we dont recommend changing your entire phone system to a completely new language. That sounds dangerous. However, you can always change just ONE of your favourite apps to give you notifications in your chosen language (were thinking the weather app or maybe even news if youre feeling brave) 5Use Media in Your Target Language This can mean listening to podcasts, watching film and TV, or reading books in that language. In the biz, we call this passive learning. You can call it whatever you like. Kick back, enjoy a glass of wine (tea/coffee) for us. Down-time can be educational too. 6Do a Little At a Time Tell us whats better: going to the gym and pumping iron as hard as you can for 4 hours and not stepping foot in the gym again until a week later OR 4 x 30 minute work outs over the week?
