21.01.2022 We had a a great first day last week on two of the farms. Here are a few of the volunteers at @crazyacresfamilyfarm. It was a little cold and windy but we got new rows in, weeded the side of bed and planted out a bunch of herbs, flowers, and put in a double gate with its own unique slant for easier access to one of the plots

11.01.2022 Hi and welcome! My given name is Diane, but I would love it if you called me Dee. I am a wise old hippie, somewhat feral, but I know how to behave in public so don’t worry. My life completely changed for the better when I met Rod, my Forever person, 18 years ago in the Byron Bay area. I went from working long hours in a menial job to managing a small network of technology centres and teaching adults how to navigate the confusing world of computers. Together Rod and I disco...vered a love of nature and the Australian outback, getting out amongst it as often as we could. Then something unpleasant happened in our lives; a waking nightmare at the time, but it opened our minds to do something crazy, like chucking in our jobs, selling everything we owned and buying a caravan to tour this amazingly gorgeous country! We did the gypsy thing for 4 years, Rod with his passion for photography and Iwell, I guess I just enjoyed the ride. Met a handful of lifelong friends, soaked up the incredible scenery (like out of a movie) and had some uniquely Australian experiences. Eventually, though, we started looking for our own patch of paradise to grow veggies and put down some roots. (Pun intended. ) By sheer good fortune, we ended up HERE a couple of years ago, in this iconic spot in Berringama, slowly turning depleted paddocks into native habitats and growing more and more veggies every season. While traveling in South Australia, I had become involved with Grow Free Carts, so when I saw Jacqui’s post about Food Swap in my new hometown, I was excited! That first meeting we didn’t have much to swap, but we all shared a common passion for growing our own food, and I learned so much from the local experienced gardeners. It was heaven. It was the start of something truly profound. And here we all are.

06.01.2022 Hi, my name is Matt Gledhill and I’m the drone behind @Mountainbee Honey. I grew up next door to Shelley at a place called Frogmore . Have done many and varied tasks from shearing, Farming, Showing Stud Cattle, Truck driver, Baling contractor, Dump truck operator FIFO in WA, Team leader of a crew of 8, Overseer to Now full time Beekeeper As I have gotten older my philosophy on life has changed, and working with bees has helped shape that A bees sole purpose in life is ...survival of the colony....... and I am now trying to ensure that we as a region survive, by giving back and helping wherever possible! That’s where Acres and Acres is such a perfect fit for me, it’s about people coming together to help and support one another through the good times and the not so good times, giving people the opportunity to be involved in a fantastic community project that will help them grow as individuals and as a part of a team, ensuring survival of our region See more

06.01.2022 This lovely Australian makes amazing film quality videos of his garden. Educational and entertaining.

05.01.2022 We are excited to have so many people excited and getting involved in growing food locally. This volunteer is our soil taster/tester and is a frequent helper in testing plant and seedling resilience. Thanks Freya

05.01.2022 Netflix has a wonderful documentary describing how the way our food is grown can either fix the earth or destroy it. I encourage everyone to watch Kiss the ground!

04.01.2022 Here is a similar model for what we hope to create. Acres and Acres has a few more levels including social connectedness between growers. Sharing of resources such as tools and knowledge so more people can get started. Learn together, grow together.

03.01.2022 At a friends house, open up a flyer and there is our project! It was great having Helen Haines MP come and visit! She is such a massive supporter of grass roots projects. Can't wait to share what we are working on!

02.01.2022 Sometimes you have to go backwards before you can go forwards. We cut the floor our of the trailer to lower it so it is easier to access. We have doubled the size of the tool shed by using both sides and the very awesome Derek (electrician) just popped in and donated a bunch of time to add solar panel, battery, phone and tool charging station, and actuators so the sides will raise automatically! Shit yes... I only ever saw one episode of pimp my ride, but im thinking of installing a 40inch plasma t.v for the chickens and some big sub woofers to help the plants grow.... #intoourhandsfoundation @ioh.foundation @rebuilduppermurray
