23.01.2022 Carpel tunnel syndrome is a common Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) for those who are always using their hands in a repetitive manner, such as typist and mechanics. It shows itself as tingling, pain or weakness in the hands, but may not affect the little finger. It is caused by a compression on the nerve running through your wrist, which may be a result of inflammed and swollen tendons from the muscles in the forearm. There are many effective treatments such as stretchi...ng and mobilisation of the fascia in the shoulder and arms, that dont involve surgery or cortiosteroids, and may be much more cost effective. For any questions on this matter or anything else please contact Daniel here on Facebook or 0423 019 885

22.01.2022 Sacroiliac Joint (S.I.J.) pain can often be confused as low back pain in many people. It is usually felt as pain on one side of the lower back (occasionally both), and can also refer pain into the buttocks, groin or thigh. It is often caused by an imbalance of the muscles and bones in the pelvis, which can create excessive forces on the joint. Prolonged sitting or standing, weak core muscles, and pregnancy can all cause pain or discomfort in this area. There are many effe...ctive treatments and a skilled therapist will have a good indication of what the underlying cause is, and propose a management program for you. 16.01.2022 While ankle and knee pain can come about from poor footwear, quite often the problem may be refering from else where in the body. Locking your knees back when your standing is a good sign of instability and imbalances in the hip or pelvis. An assessment by a skilled practitioner will tell you if this is the case, and will be able to give you appropriate treatment and exercises. For any questions on this matter or anything else please contact Daniel here on Facebook or 0423 019 885

15.01.2022 Pain in the shoulders can be a real pain in the neck...sometimes literally. Many times, pain in the shoulders comes down to an imbalance of the small muscles in the shoulder, known as your rotator cuff. One simple confirmation of this may be a clunk, or click around your shoulder when you move it in certain positions. While this may not cause pain now, it may develop into more painful, and debilitating conditions such as supraspinatus tendinopathy, or frozen shoulder.... It is best to catch these conditions early, as they can leave us in a real pickle later on down the track. A skilled therapist will have a good indication of what the underlying cause is, and propose a management program for you. For any questions on this matter or anything else please contact Daniel here on Facebook or 0423 019 885

12.01.2022 As you sit here reading, take a moment to think about how you are sitting. Are your feet tucked under your chair? Are you slouched forward? These common workplace postures can be a huge contributor to back, neck and shoulder pain. Help reduce the effects of sitting for extended periods by trying just a few small things. DO: Get up, move about! Set an alarm to move away from your desk for just a few minutes every hour... Stretch out those tight muscles. Neck, arms, hips and legs all tighten up from sitting Dont: Sit too far away from your desk and reach. 12.01.2022 Pain in the knees and ankles are often related, and can contribute to low back pain. Patelofemoral joint dysfunction (PJD) is a name given to pain in, and around the knee cap. There are many causes of PJD, many of which relate to incorrect movement patterns of your knee cap. Pain is often caused by inflamation of the fat pad or tendons in the knee due to connective tissue imbalances or muscle weakness. Treatments often look at reducing the cause of the inflammation, and c...orrecting movement patterns of the knee. A skilled therapist will have a good indication of what the underlying cause is, and propose a management program for you. 11.01.2022 Next time your sitting down, at your desk or car think about how you are sitting. Commonly your shoulders are rolled forward and your chin is poking out in front of you. This commmon posture puts a lot of tension on the mid and lower back, which may result in chronic pain and premature tiredness. It takes a lot of energy to hold that position. Simply imagine being gently pulled by the hair on the crown of your head. This will straighten your spine, draw your shoulders back, and unload your spine. For any questions on this matter or anything else please contact Daniel here on Facebook

07.01.2022 Activating and strengthening your core muscles is as easy as breathing. Simply focus your breath into your ribs while keeping your shoulders relaxed. Your ribs will flair out to the side a little, and you will activate your core muscles, including your pelvic floor.

01.01.2022 We all know pain hurts...right, but what does pain DO TO YOUR BODY? The 2 big things are: 1. It alters your normal movement patterns, and changes your perception of how you move. 2. It inhibits the muscles that stabilise our joints. ... In essence, the muscles that prevent your bones from being thrown around in the joint get unused and weak, which may put you in an increased risk of further injuring that area. Clinical Pilates works to retrain these muscles to re-stabilise your joints to decrease pain, and improve your bodys movement patterns to decrease the chance of re-injury. Come along to a Beginners class to learn more. Bookings are essential. Call Daniel on 0423 019 885 for more information.
