24.01.2022 Planning the big fishing trip.

24.01.2022 Howdy Booklovers! After closing our doors more than three months ago because of the health crisis, we are reopening tomorrow (Saturday 11 July). Because of the continuing health crisis, some things will be a little different. I will be sitting behind the big desk tomorrow from 10.30 until 2.30. From next week,I will resume my regular days - Wednesday to Saturday - but will be working slightly shorter days, opening at 10.30 and closing at 3.00. For the safety of fellow custome...rs I ask that you be mindful of our Covid-19 Safety plan: If you have any respiratory symptoms, please visit another day. A maximum of four customers in the shop at any one time. Please restrict visits to a max of one hour. Please use hand sanitiser before handling books and again before you leave. Please maintain your social distance. Be considerate of others who may want to go to the same section as you. We accept cash and card. I'm excited about reopening but, like you, appreciate that the crisis is again evolving. We will continue to monitor the situation and if things get worse in the ACT, we will sadly close the doors again. In the interim, come in and browse. See you soon!

22.01.2022 This lot haven’t been in the house more than five minutes and she’s already nicked one. No prizes for guessing which one. The rest will be on the website in due course.

21.01.2022 Classic aviation cover art. It doesn’t come much better than this. The stories aren’t too bad either!

19.01.2022 Playing mother.

16.01.2022 I’ll be busy cataloguing today but I just need to get my strength up first.

16.01.2022 Seems Christmas is just around the corner. Our neighbours are working on their display & Kristen is dropping very broad hints about what she wants in her pressie pile. Perhaps you'll find something for your own pile in our latest e-list. Subscribe now http://www.alexanderfaxbooks.com.au/?q=military-e-catalogue

15.01.2022 We may be closed during lockdown but we're still doing mail order via website and fortnightly e-catalogue. Browse the website or subscribe. Or both! http://www.alexanderfaxbooks.com.au/

15.01.2022 The piles of books keep growing! Sadly, my little helper deserted me so I was left to deal with them alone.

15.01.2022 Egg and bacon roll, and an engrossing book. Good way to start my day off.

14.01.2022 I’m never quite sure why book titles refer to the ‘untold story’. Of course the story is told! This is the book that tells the story.

11.01.2022 The Mawson shop is open, I'm sitting behind the big desk, and the latest e-list is winging its way to e-inboxes as we speak. http://www.alexanderfaxbooks.com.au/ Shop visitors will notice a few changes. We are still open Wednesday to Saturday for browsing and phone calls but have trimmed the hours to 10.302.30. NBN willing (!) you can always reach us on email. We have also introduced social distancing protocols so please check these out on the website. Looking forward to seeing you soon! http://www.alexanderfaxbooks.com.au/

11.01.2022 Busy, busy! Just a few of the multitude I have cart into the shop tomorrow and shelve before I release the next military e-catalogue into the wild. It includes some rarities as well as interesting tomes for reader and collector, including a little memoir by the RAAF's most recent centenarian (published in the year he became an octogenarian)! https://news.defence.gov.au//darwin-bombing-survivor-celeb

11.01.2022 Perhaps this one for the next e-list? Or how about Something from any one of these other boxes?

10.01.2022 Can you believe it friends! I was able to fend her off, and she got away with only one small bite.

09.01.2022 Don’t take my photo. No, I mean it. She never listens to a word I say.

08.01.2022 I’m not surprised she couldn’t eat her way through that. It was a very big ‘big breakfast’.

08.01.2022 Love the title of this book. And the cover is something almost out of this world. Apparently it is a Caquot kite balloon seen from the stern.

08.01.2022 While I'm at the shop Kristen is cataloguing at home. I'm not entirely sure she is taking it seriously. Re the top one, I quote: 'Story of John "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham & Co. (Contrary to wartime propaganda Cunningham's exceptional eyesight was not because he ate carrots! LOL.)'

06.01.2022 Have you read Kristen's latest article yet? She's penned a piece on the Morotai Mutiny which appears in the latest edition of Wartime. For those of you who haven't come across Wartime yet, it is always chock full of top stories and is great value for <$10. Available at your local newsagent, the Australian War Memorial, or online from the AWM.

06.01.2022 Coffee o’clock!

05.01.2022 Feeling virtuous. Toast and jam instead of cake.

03.01.2022 Picnic in comfort.

03.01.2022 Kristen tells me it’s her half birthday and she has to have some half-birthday cake. Who am I to argue with her?

03.01.2022 Kristen here. I said to him, if you are going to order chips to go with that cake, I’m putting it on Facebook. I am a woman of my word.

01.01.2022 It won’t be long before these Find their way onto the shelves!

01.01.2022 Someone’s not too impressed about me working at home. Should be even less impressed when I open that box to get some more books out.
