25.01.2022 Myth 3# You don't have to bleed. Your period is not just your period! Your period health and regularity is an expression of your general health and a chance to check in each month about how your hormonal health is balanced - like a monthly report card! ... When it comes to periods, for a long time women have chosen to ignore them, or at least pay as little attention to them as possible, apart from making sure they are there and regular. There are a few reasons that women may not have a period. Hormonal dysfunction leading to an absence of the period or Secondary amenorrhea is a term used to describe absent menstruation, unrelated to pregnancy, breast-feeding, or menopause, in a woman who previously had regular menstrual periods. Several disorders affecting hormonal regulation can cause secondary amenorrhea; however, 3035% of cases are due to a condition called hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA), the use of hormonal birth control & PCOS are also conditions leading to an irregular cycle. Missing a few periods may not seem like a big deal. In fact, some women may welcome a break from their flow, but the long-term consequences of hormone dysfunction can be severe. If left untreated, these disruptions can lead to impaired lipid and glucose metabolism, abnormal cortisol levels, and increased anxiety and depression. Estrogen on its own is crucial for bone accretion (until the age of about 2430) and bone maintenance, as well as for cardiovascular protection. Therefore, on the long term, there is an increased risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis, and for those women younger than 30, a challenge in trying to achieve a healthy peak bone mass. So do your period health check - how often, what is the quality of the blood, what symptoms are present? Reach out for support to help regulate hormonal health and wellness. Naturopathic and nutritional support can provide the change to rebalance that body's innate balance leading to better hormonal balance and period wellness. Don't suffer in silence, don't ignore and normalize this for our next generation of girls - reach out for help!

22.01.2022 Myth #6 If you push through you should be able to be as productive day after day after day! Women have an infradian rhythm. Our energy is not static day to day. Women have a 28 day cycle of hormonal balance, offering times of strengths of productivity, creative innovation & times of introversion & increased need for rest to recharge. ... Check in reguarly around your cycle. Each phase will have a different energy. Our 4 phases are Winter - the time of bleeding and rest, a time to nourish yourself and let go of anything you don't want to bring into the next months cycle. Spring - time of new growth and building of estrogen stimulating the ovaries to wake, seeding new ideas you want to bring into the month Summer - time of ovulation and creative expression, all those beautiful seeds bloom! Autumn - the time of settling, a time to wind down and finish up projects, a time of progesterone production - building the lining of the womb, a time to harvest those beautiful seeds! So... Where are you in your cycle? How does it feel? What are you going to bring into this next month? What are you going to let go of? Most importantly are you living in rhythm with your cycle? Are you using it to your best advantage??? Do you want to know more? Reach out to find out more about the free upcoming talk on Cycle basics to learn tips to nourish your body and love your cycle!

18.01.2022 Normalizing alternativw methods for feeding newborns. How did you feed???

16.01.2022 Period Myth 2# Period pain is normal -NO NO NO! Did you know that it commonly takes up to 10yrs to find a diagnosis of a menstrual disorder from the medical system?... That is 10 yrs of up to 12 cycles a year of a bleed time between 3 days or longer that is 360 days or longer of PAIN - DYSFUNTION - MOOD CHANGES AND IRRITABILITY/DEPRESSION -INFLAMMATION all ignored as period issues! This is a myth that is based in both experience of a menstrual cycle within a hormonally imbalanced world and also a concept perpetuated from the very beginning of our teachings as children. Throughout history we are told Women are "cursed" with a time of bleeding and pain and childbirth. Women are disconnected from the power of their monthly infradian rhythm and our focus is only on our bleed time and how this impacts our performances. Our wise women who supported healing in women's arts were classified as witches and burnt with so much fear and knowledge around Women's wisdom lost. Women working so hard to shift awareness from seeming weak or not "as productive" because we have a cycle that We have all kinds of different experiences of our cycle - some women experience shame and silence around their periods - suffering in silence rather than sharing their need for support and healing. Others share openly and learn about their cycle. What I want ALL WOMEN to know is that if there is pain - there is DYSFUNCTION. Reach out for help, don't take no for an answer. Our monthly cycle asks us to do just that - CYCLE! Some times we need a deep rest and time to connect with our body in a quiet and nourishing space. Other times in the cycle our rhythm empowers us to harness our creative energies and access those amazing super powers we uniquely hold!!! So this month - with the new moon - set an intention. Pay attention to your cycle. To your rhythm If you don't have a physical cycle at the moment - you cycle with the moon, watch the moon and track your rhythm, symptoms and energy shifts. Harness this awsome energy and make sure to shift this knowledge onto any women who need to hear it! Reach out for help if you are searching for a naturopath to support you on this journey.

06.01.2022 Period Myth 1# PMS is normal PMS is a sign of hormonal dysfunction. It can be a debilitating condition for many young girls and women who struggle with this condition each month for sometime days and days of not only emotional distress but intense pain and discomfort. ... This can affect the quality of life, relationships and our own relationship with how we feel about our bodies. I want to work to end the silence around PMS or dismissing this flippantly as it must just be "her period" kind of ignorance. There are great hormonal assesments, tools to work with your cycle and how to use herbal tonics and nutrition to support your bodies natural cycles. Don't suffer in silence reach out for support!

05.01.2022 PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS REMEMBERANCE October 15th is International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Day, where bereaved parents from Australia and around the world pause to remember their babies who’ve died. Honouring the approximately 106,000 thousand babies who lose their lives to miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death each year. I invite, if it calls to you for families and friends to commemorate their babies who’ve died, to share their experiences & to support each. ... We remember and hold you in our hearts forever.

04.01.2022 Myth #5 If you have a difficult period there is nothing you can do! NO NO NO TAKE action, create change, you don't have to put up with difficult periods!... I want this myth BUSTED!!!!! Young girls and women deserve better. They deserve to know how their bodies work and fuction, how to find out if there is imbalance and how to find a women's health specialist to support them on their journey to wellness. I have worked with women suffering from infertility, recurrent miscarraiges, PCOS, endometriosis, PMS, PMDD, hormonal acne, weight gain, perimenopause, menopausal symptoms. The biggest change that I see is that these women step out of dysfunction and pain and into a life that is rythmical, and working with their bodies and hormonal cycles. They step forward into their lives with joy and knowledge that they don't have to feel exhausted, overwhelmed, foggy or in pain. Herbal treatments have been a part of our women's healing knowledge since the beginning of time. Naturopathic Womancraft includes that use of Nutrition and herbal medicine, blending traditional womens wisdom to provide a nourishing treatment allowing optimal wellness. Reducing symptoms, enhancing quality of life and wellness. Please reach out for support if you need information at any point! Dont suffer in silence.

03.01.2022 Such a beautiful read.

02.01.2022 Myth #4 You have a cycle when taking the Oral contraceptive pill. When you are on the OCP you do not ovulate - the easiest way to describe this is that the OCP creates a hormonal castration. Every ovulation and cycle helps to protect our hormonal health, bone health and breast health. This doesn't happen when on the OCP. The bleed is a withdrawal of the hormones. ... Signs and symptoms of dysfunction on the OCP - Depression, Low libido, Hair loss, Weight gain, Lack of period and post pill PCOS, post pill acne, blood clots (life threatening). So the question to ask is why choose the OCP??? Is there a better option? If you are looking for support to withdraw from the OCP and normalise your hormonal cycle reach out for an indepth individual consultation to support you bringing you back on track. Although the herbal tonics aren't always your favourite taste sensation it is a fantastic way to support your bodies natural rhythms.

01.01.2022 PRENATAL NOURISHMENT & YOGA Term 4 bookings now open - Maitland/Meadowie Prenatal yoga conditions the mind even more than the body. "The primary benefit of prenatal yoga is breath awareness, If you can use the breath as an anchor, it will draw your attention inward and downward, exactly the direction you want your baby to go." (yoga journal)... Nourishing Mum during pregnancy through yoga is a spectacular way to connect with baby, relax the body and strengthen our focus on breath. The breath should always be a primary focus; the physical sensations arising from the asana (movements) are secondary. Through regular prenatal classes women learn to deepen their awareness and train their focus on the breath during labor and not on the contraction. Using the breath as an anchor keeps a woman grounded, no matter how overwhelming the sensations might be and grounded Mum is calmer and more able to respond intuitively to her body and babies needs. In the end, childbirth, like parenting, comes down to trusting your intuition, feeling what's right, and not relying on what others think. "That's what the practice of yoga is all about...being fully, deeply, richly, and radically present with your own self." * Lasater Yoga is a gentle and restorative way to wind down your day. A national survey found that over 55% of people who did yoga found that it helped them get better sleep. Over 85% said yoga helped reduce stress. - who doesn't need some more of that!!!!!
