24.01.2022 If you want to catch up with the Greens candidates for Stafford & Clayfield, pop along to this informal event on Saturday at Gordon Park to say hello, offer to help (or ask some tough questions).

18.01.2022 Rather than making sick people pay to access public healthcare, we'll raise royalties on mining corporations to fund free parking for public hospital patients and staff.

16.01.2022 It’s election time again! Ballot papers are being printed and posted, early voting starts this coming Monday & pictures of me are decorating the neighbourhood around the seat of Clayfield as part of this celebration of democracy, which culminates on 31st October.

12.01.2022 Happy International Tenants Day! Of all the topics I’ve posted about over the years, few seem to cause as many arguments and disputes among commenters as posts about tenancy issues. Over 50% of people in parts of Brisbane - including the inner-North - rent their home, with those numbers continuing to increase. ... International Tenants Day is an opportunity for people to become more aware of their rights & to consider ways those rights can be better enforced and improved. The state Labor government considered reforms to improve laws relating to residential tenancies, but as so often happens, they backed off and put it in their ‘maybe after the election’ pile. Electing more Greens to state Parliament will increase the chances of positive changes happening.

11.01.2022 The Liberal Party is assisting One Nation (& Clive Palmer) again - don’t reward them. Last state election, the LNP’s decision to preference One Nation above Labor and the Greens was the crucial factor enabling One Nation to win a seat in state Parliament. The LNP made an announcement yesterday which makes it clear they will be doing the same thing again - this time in every seat in the state, favouring the likes of One Nation and Clive Palmer. ... The LNP’s decision: - increases the chances of One Nation winning more seats. Last election there were 14 seats where One Nation came in second to Labor, one of which they won; - shows the LNP is prepared to rely on One Nation to help them form a minority government; - indicates that the LNP finds One Nation’s socially destructive & discriminatory views acceptable. By contrast, the Greens (and I expect also the ALP) will be putting One Nation last.

10.01.2022 Covid-19 has made most of us much more aware of how important it is that our aged care facilities are properly run. Unfortunately, it has also uncovered the reality that many of them are poorly run - understaffed & under-resourced, with inadequate regulatory oversight. More and more evidence is also emerging showing that it is the for-profit places that are far more likely to fit into this category. ... This must change and change quickly. It can be done if the political will is there for governments to provide proper funds & proper oversight. It also time to look at winding back for-profit operations in favour of places that put people first. As we have seen, lives literally depend on it.

06.01.2022 The lack of action on climate from our governments and the growing economic crisis is understandably causing a lot of anxiety and despair. But we can have rapid, effective on climate change while rebuilding our economy in a way which reduces poverty and inequality, and enables a good life for everyone. Join locals Professor John Quiggin & renowned environmentalist Prof Ian Lowe at this online forum tonight from 6:30 pm to discuss how. Hosted by Lawson McCane - Candidate for Moggill.

06.01.2022 The way through this economic crisis is to create jobs that invest in people. Housing. Renewable technology manufacture. Nurses and Doctors. This is how we build a fair and sustainable Queensland. kirstenlovejoy.com.au/our_plan

05.01.2022 And now for something completely different ... more photos of signs of my face on fences in the electorate of Clayfield! Early voting starts tomorrow and continues every day thru until Halloween (except Sunday). If you can help out handing out how to vote cards (which also have my photo on it!) at the early voting booths in Clayfield, please get in touch. ... #qldvotes #qldvotes2020

04.01.2022 I suppose Antony Green commenting on my campaign photo is a case where I can literally say I feel seen. I haven’t heard publishing a photo being equated to launching a campaign before, but given the modern 15 minute media cycle, perhaps it is apt. Also a bit surprised that Antony Green would out himself as a disliker of purple, especially as we enter into jacaranda season in Brisbane, but each to their own. In any case, yes I am running as the candidate for Clayfield, and... yes it is a seat to watch. A marginal Liberal seat, a high & growing Green vote - due to the work of many people over many years - and almost totally within the boundaries of the federal seat of Brisbane I ran in last year, where we achieved a record vote by gaining votes off both Labor and Liberal. I think a return to a Liberal government in Queensland, with their record of slashing public services and jobs, would be an even bigger disaster this time around, in the middle of a major recession. So winning this seat would be an extra bonus for the community. #PurpleReign #TooMuchPurpleisNeverEnough

03.01.2022 Given that the LNP so openly support and work with One Nation these days, including preferencing them ahead of all the other main parties, stories like this are no surprise.

03.01.2022 For any of you who are enrolled to vote in the electorate of Clayfield - here’s the official how to vote card (although of course every voter can decide for them self how to order their preferences). Just put me number 1 & number every square & I’ll be happy. (Although to be honest, I do feel that One Nation should always go last, & it also would be good to not have the LNP in this seat for a change, so putting Labor ahead of them would be a good idea in my view). And if you are interested in helping hand out these how to vote cards on Election Day, or at the early voting booth, please let me know. #qldvotes
