23.01.2022 Great news for jobs. Great news for kids - now & into the future. Modelling by PwC Australia (https://bit.ly/3lMSFSS ) shows kids do better & the economy is $3b a year stronger when kids spend their first 3 years in stable housing. Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Anthony Albanese #Auspol https://ab.co/35wvNBx

22.01.2022 Equipping #families, #children & #youngpeople to make better decisions is the key to helping young Australians escape the pull COVID-19s gravity. Find out how we plan to do it. Watch our free webinar recording > https://bit.ly/326HCf4

21.01.2022 there are 19 people unemployed or underemployed for every vacancy and only 3% of employers report that they are recruiting but cant find enough applicants. Every family is at risk of joblessness. To date Scott Morrison & his government have done pretty well helping families keep their kids fed & housed in tough times. Removing the #COVID support keeping families afloat wont create jobs but will put kids into poverty & damage the economy. #RaiseTheRateForGood

21.01.2022 The evidence keeps piling up. If we want to create jobs now & if we want our kids & country to have a brighter future, the best investment we can make is in education, & the earlier the better. Scott Morrison Anthony Albanese #ThriveByFive #BuildBackBetter

18.01.2022 Every family is at risk of unemployment due to #COVID. If Josh Frydenberg wants people to feel encouraged about the future & have more kids, families need to know they will be helped feed those kids in hard times. So far Scott Morrison has helped families feed their kids during this crisis but the crisis continues. Now is not the time to remove the support keeping families afloat. #Auspol #RaiseTheRate #RaiseTheRateForGood

18.01.2022 The Smith Family defines the poverty line in Australia as a single person living on less than $426.30 a week. When the Jobseeker payment is removed, Newstart recipients will be forced to live on just $282.50 a week" "Before the coronavirus the only way I could survive was I would get up at 4am and go to the trash and treasure markets I’d sell my clothes and my possessions to get a little bit of money to pay my bills.. #auspol #RaiseTheRateForGood #buildbackbetter https://bit.ly/2IKpphD

16.01.2022 Removing/reducing COVID supports for families will remove food from tables kids sit at. With the economic crisis continuing it could be the family next door, it could be yours. Kids shouldn't suffer because their family cant find work - especially in an economic crisis. #RaiseTheRate Social Ventures Australia The Benevolent Society UnitingCare Australia Early Childhood Australia Save the Children Australia

16.01.2022 Every family is at risk of relying on government payments as the economic crisis continues. Removing/reducing COVID supports for families will remove food from tables kids sit at. And the uncertainty families face about the level of support they receive will only further weaken the economy. #RaiseTheRateForGood Social Ventures Australia

11.01.2022 A new report by Deloitte for the Australian Council of Social Service finds cutting JobSeeker will destroy the jobs of 145,000 Australians while the ANU finds it will throw 740,000 back into poverty. 10.01.2022 I’m not interested in just more reviews and more 500-page reports that point out the same things. I am looking for what can be done in terms of actual action now. Well said Commissioner. We have the reports that tell us income support policy impacts kids (https://bit.ly/2UyHscY). We have the reports that tell us housing policy impacts kids (https://pwc.to/2K5Ylto). We know early education is good for kids (https://bit.ly/3f3oUuK). We really just need to be able to get on with it. Let’s hope Scott Morrison takes the advice of his Commissioner. 08.01.2022 We know that supporting our children from an early age will improve their future outcomes. Achieving this target will require a greater investment in early childhood development and learning supports for children aged 0-5. 08.01.2022 Treasury found that when youth unemployment goes up by 5 percentage points, the wage that new graduates can expect to receive goes down by 8 percentage points, and theyre less likely to get jobs at all. The effect on graduates wages lasts for years. Over a decade they lose the equivalent of half a years salary compared to otherwise similar young people who graduated in more benign conditions.

05.01.2022 Leading economist Chris Richardson has warned that while Australia has dealt with the coronavirus at a sprint, the battle for jobs will be a marathon. He is urging the federal government to go "hard and smart" in providing further support and stimulus in next month's delayed budget. At top of the list, Mr Richardson, a partner at consultants Deloitte Access Economics, wants a permanent increase in the JobSeeker dole payment. #RaisetheRateforGood #BuildBackBetter Check out Fast Facts resources here (https://bit.ly/32g9crr) for use in the lead-up to Budget (6 Oct) and #AntiPovertyWeek (11-17 Oct).
