14.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT: EMERGENCY FODDER AVAILABLE NOW IN MUDGEE FOR FIRE AFFECTED LIVESTOCK An emergency fodder depot for fire affected livestock will be opened today in... Mudgee. Bushfire affected landholders needing emergency fodder are required to ring the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647 to request support. The fodder distribution centre in Mudgee is planned to be open for a week. Local Land Services NSW and the NSW Department of Primary Industries, along with local partner groups are working to support landholders affected by devastating bushfires. If you have livestock that have been left without feed or water due to the bushfires please call the Hotline now, said the regional Incident Controller for Agriculture and Animal Services, Nigel Gillan. Immediate assistance is available to help give landholders time to assess their situation and make plans for their stock. We have staff on the ground assisting fire affected communities to manage animal welfare-related issues, said Mr Gillan. 12.01.2022 2019 Mudgee Small Farm Field Days was an incredible event for our team of young volunteers! The MYAG tent would not be possible without these amazing young adul...ts who have a passion for agriculture and a genuine interest in educating the younger generation. Our next project is a fantastic reward for their efforts - but also a lot of hard work - and of course there will be learning along the way... the MYAG team hope to purchase steers to fatten and handle in preparation for the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza, in Scone, in late October. We need to start the ball rolling NOW to purchase the steers as well as appropriate feed and resources. The team will then spend hours upon hours to feed and train the steers for parading in Scone. Do you think you could help? Would you like to make a cash donation or do you have hay or grain you could donate? All sponsorship will be recognised and appreciated and your reward is knowing you have contributed to the next generation of Australian Agriculture! 07.01.2022 ***Mudgee fodder distribution site to close, support to continue*** Livestock producers who have been impacted by bushfires in the Mid-Western region have acces...sed emergency fodder at the Australian Rural Education Centre (AREC) at Mudgee. Since the site opened on 27 December, 77 tonnes of fodder has been collected by 38 landholders. The emergency fodder distribution point will close at midday on Saturday, 4 January. Support for impacted primary producers and communities will continue as long-term recovery support commences. Support will continue to be provided through the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647. The emergency fodder distribution point provided immediate assistance to livestock producers impacted by the bushfires and allowed them to assess their situation and make plans for their stock. Some useful information on livestock safety in emergencies, including your options after a natural disaster emergency, can be found by visiting the NSW Department of Primary Industries website https://bit.ly/39vxdMF For the latest information on the bushfires or road closures visit NSW Rural Fire Service or Live Traffic NSW.

04.01.2022 Mudgee Field Days 2020 Cancellation Due to the evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and the Government Order under the Public Health Act to ban mass gatherings, we regret to announce that the 2020 Mudgee Small Farm Field Days has been cancelled. Chairman of the Australian Rural Education Centre, James Sullivan, said This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but our priority is the health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and volunteers.... It is extremely disappointing to cancel the 2020 event and we understand everyone is facing a very challenging period. The cancellation will affect a number of local businesses, as the event brings millions of dollars into the Mudgee economy. This is the first time in our 43 year history that we have had to cancel an event and the financial impact on our small, not-for-profit charity will also be significant as we derive approximately 90% of our income from the field days. We will be working with exhibitors to transfer their fees to the 2021 event. This will help us greatly to ensure our ongoing viability. We will be in contact with all stakeholders in the coming days. We will be back stronger than ever next year and hope to see you on 2 + 3 July 2021.
