20.01.2022 Takayama Light.. excited to see this small artwork SOLD on my Etsy shop this morning... off to California :) My partner will be a little disappointed at it's one of his favourites. Postcards from Japan series... Inspiration from a trip to Japan in 2017 was the motivation for this work, created on watercolour paper using personal photographs & textiles. The photographs were taken in the old centre of Takayama as well as the Kiyomizu-Dera area of Kyoto. Technique:... Honouring the tradition of the Japanese attention to detail, these photographic & textile collage works have been intricately embellished throughout with metallic & coloured threads as well as gold leaf. Many of the textiles I use have been ‘rescued’ from landfill or ‘recycled’ from vintage Japanese kimonos & obis. See more

02.01.2022 I can finally see my studio tables so happy to share a couple of tidy studio pics... it only took me a week to clean up & will likely take only a couple of hours to mess it up Have had to rearrange a few things so my temporary office can be easily 'put away' when I'm not working. I also discovered during the clean up a colourful Japanese obi that I used in my last exhibition 'Touch of Japan' - it now hangs over the old window to brighten the space a little I've already started on a new necklace, using all pre-loved materials, a piece of textile from my dear friend Karen (I think it used to be a gorgeous blouse), silver decorative pieces pulled from an old bracelet from Margot (I think she intended I pull it apart:)) & finally some fabulous old beads from a Vinnies necklace.
