07.01.2022 Internationally-active American concert pianist of Ukrainian origin Roman Rudnytsky will be playing at the Atherton Performing Arts Theatre at 7pm on Saturday, August 17. Proudly brought to the area by not-for-profit group The Arts Council Tablelands Inc, Roman has been performing around the world for many years, including performances in Atherton with great success. A graduate of America's most prestigious music conservatory. The Juilliard School in New York, he has as of ...2019 performed in over 100 countries. He was born in 1942 in New York City into a family of professional musicians and began the study of piano at age four and gave his first full recital at age seven. He is prizewinner of ten international and national piano competitions----both in the USA and in Europe----This includes 2nd Prize in 1965 in the International Leventritt Competition---the premier piano and violin international competition in the USA in those years. He has been soloist with many orchestras around the world, playing with them nearly 50 different works for piano and orchestra. Through US Embassies and Consulates, he has played concerts and conducted masterclasses since 1984 in over 35 countries, with repeat visits to a good number of them. In addition, he has played many recitals as the classical pianist on nearly 70 cruises of P&O and Cunard ships from the UK. Regarding Australia Roman has made nineteen tours since 1981, playing nearly 600 concerts in all the States and the NT. In 1993, he gave the Australian premiere performance with the SBS Youth Orchestra of the then recently discovered Liszt Concerto No.3 in E Flat for piano and orchestra. The SBS made a documentary of this, called Discovering Liszt, and featured this performance as the centerpiece of the documentary. It was broadcast several times over their TV network. This year marks his 21st tour in Australia. He performed earlier this year on the islands of Guam and Saipan and in Chile. plus in the USA. Coming up later this year will be recitals in the UK and on board three cruises of Cunard and P&O ships from the UK.
