22.01.2022 Here is an image I shot earlier this year at the property in Gresford. I noticed a flash of light near the ground, it ended up being a horse trough and I noticed I could see the Milky Way reflected in the water surface. The first shot I tried as low and that is the shot I posted several months ago. This one was shot higher up allowing me to stitch the image a little easier. Shot with a Nikon D5 and the 20mm f1.4 lens, the settings were f1.4 and a 20-second exposure at ISO6400.

19.01.2022 Saturday night was the special Social Milky Way setting shoot at Kitchener park with the old mine works. We had quite a turnout with 23 photographers. I was testing the new Nikon Z6II with the FTZ adapter and my 70-200mm f2.8 lens on the Star Adventurer. The settings were f4 and a 60-second exposure at ISO3200 I am amazed at the performance of this camera. This is the LMC a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way about 175,000LY distant.

10.01.2022 Social sunrise this Saturday 14th will be held at Toowoon Bay beach. We will meet at 4:45 in the car park if the surf club. Sunrise is at 5:45 and the tide will be at the mid point and rising. We can head to Shelly beach for breakfast after. The following week we will go to Jenny Dixon. Saturday night will be the last hoorah for the Milky Way for the year from hell known as 2020. Would any of you be interested in heading out to shoot? Thinking of either Kitchener and the mine rig or Pokolbin and the vines from the park.

08.01.2022 New camera and a couple of hours clear skies, What should I do? I know Orion is coming back and we have a Comet Atlas right near the belt. This is a 10 image stack of the belt region taken with a Nikon Z6II with the 85mm Z f1.8 on the Skywatcher Star Adventurer. The camera settings were a 60-second exposure at f1.8 and 1600ISO. I would have gone for more exposures but I noticed that about 10 minutes into the images some high cloud was moving in from the west. The Z6II was Amazing for astro and I am looking forward to using it more. The comet is the green fuzzy star just beyond the belt stars.
