25.01.2022 Was a pleasure hosting the President, Vice President, traditional leaders, members of congress, government officials, business community members and distinguished guests on Australia Day. An opportunity to come together to celebrate the strength of the Palau Australia partnership and the embassy’s first year anniversary in Pristine Paradise. We also took time to reflect upon Australian history, extend our respect to the ancient cultures and contemporary contributions of Australian Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the diverse communities that make up modern-day Australia. Reflect. Respect. Celebrate.

15.01.2022 We are up and running on the undersea fibre optic cable to Palau. This week, we have reached our first milestone in the signing of financing agreements with our... partners the Palau Government, along with Japan and the United States, Australia’s co-investors under the Trilateral Partnership for Infrastructure Investment in the Indo-Pacific. Reliable, secure digital connectivity in Palau will open opportunities to boost tourism, business and investment, and to provide better government services, including health and education. Australia’s funding comes through the Australia Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP), which shows the Morrison Government’s Pacific Stepup in action. It builds on our assistance with the completed 4,700km Coral Sea cable connecting Honiara, Sydney and Port Moresby. We are also supporting Timor Leste’s first undersea cable. The Palau cable is a clear demonstration that through our Trilateral Partnership, Australia, Japan and the US are committed to vital infrastructure that serves the needs of the Pacific region and will help our shared economic recovery from COVID-19. @PalauPresident U.S. Department of State Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan @dfat.gov.au

12.01.2022 Ambassador Turner had a great time reading to the 1st and 2nd graders of Ngaraard Elementary School. Students were very curious about life in Australia, especially the different types of animals. The Ambassador also had a chance to stop by the Governor's office to pay a courtesy call on the Honourable Benjamin Iskawa, Governor of Ngaraard State.

05.01.2022 It was an honour to speak at Palau’s International Women’s Day Forum yesterday. The Forum provides the opportunity to join the global campaign to celebrate the political, economic and social achievements of women, particularly during this challenging time of COVID-19. Happy International Women’s Day!
