25.01.2022 In partnership with Economic Development Australia, TCI Network Oceania hosted a special luncheon opportunity to hear from celebrated Cluster Manager Bianca Dragomir. As a cluster structure ourselves, this luncheon was a significant highlight for the AOEG. Ms Dragomir asserts successful clusters include the following key elements: self-sustaining business generation, facilitation of entrepreneurship, ignition of innovation, effective communication and strategic focus. We endeavour to bring these initiatives into every activity we undertake. #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup

24.01.2022 Wave Swell Energy, one of the AOEG's founding members, has developed a world-leading proprietary technology which converts energy in ocean waves into clean, emissions-free electricity. The company is currently developing a 200kW energy project, intended to be installed in the ocean off the east coast of King Island. The project's aim is to demonstrate the ability of the technology to produce electrical energy at a cost comparable to new coal-fired power plants, when installe...d at large-scale. Learn more about Wave Swell Energy's role in improving the performance and commercial viability of wave energy technologies on their website. #WaveSwellEnergy #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup

23.01.2022 Did you know the AOEG was originally formed as AMET? Created by a group of wave and tidal technology developers at the first Australian Ocean Energy Conference in 2016, the Australian Marine Energy Taskforce (AMET) vowed to speak for the ocean energy industry in one united voice. It was in early 2018 that AMET realised it could intensify efforts by operating as an economic cluster and not an industry body. Pursuing and receiving funding from National Energy Resources Australi...a, we began our exciting transition to the AOEG. Read more about us on our website. #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup

21.01.2022 Ocean Energy Systems (OES) is an intergovernmental collaboration between more than twenty countries, operating under a framework established by the International Energy Agency (IEA). AOEG participates in the OES as a codelegate country representative, along with the CSIRO. OES's key education and research programs aim to accelerate the viability, uptake and acceptance of ocean energy systems in an environmentally acceptable way. More info is available here. https://www.ocean...-energy-systems.org/index.php #OES #IEA #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup See more

21.01.2022 AOEG is pleased to announce the successful capital raise completed by wave energy technology developer (and one of our founding technology members) Carnegie Clean Energy. After raising $5.5M, Carnegie is able to embark on a digital development pathway aimed at improving performance and reducing costs for its CETO technology. This positive industry news demonstrates the ongoing support and appetite of the public for clean ocean energy solutions. The company is now seeking talented and innovative technical professionals to contribute to these advancements. Learn more here.

18.01.2022 The Australian Ocean Energy Group is a collaboration with Climate KIC Australia, with start-up funding provided by National Energy Resources Australia (NERA). We are a not-for-profit organisation driving innovation in the ocean energy sector. Learn more about our initiatives here. https://oceanenergygroup.org.au/ #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup

16.01.2022 The Federal Government has officially announced its support of Wave Swell Energy's King Island Project. The Federal funding will go to the project via the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). Wave Swell is pleased to have ARENA's support for the project, based on its belief in the commercial potential of the technology. Passing ARENA's detailed technical and commercial requirements signifies a major validation of the technology in its own right. Learn more about the project here.

16.01.2022 Registration for the third Australian Forum for Operational Oceanography (FOO) is now open! Taking place over the 15th and 16th of October, the Forum will cover themes across opportunities for operational oceanography to drive the development of Australian marine industries, as well as risks to Australian marine industries and the role of operational oceanography in helping to manage them. You can register for the two-day event here.

10.01.2022 Australia's oceans have great potential to become an incredible resource of renewable energy. Learn how you can help make this vision a reality. https://oceanenergygroup.org.au/about/ #AOEG #AustralianOceanEnergyGroup

10.01.2022 The AOEG is thrilled to be an inaugural member of the Blue Economy CRC. Aiming to bring the aquaculture and renewable energy sectors together to address the challenges of offshore food and energy production, we will help leverage the benefits of colocation, vertical integration, infrastructure and shared services. CSIRO Principal Research Scientist Dr. Mark Hemer discussed the CRC's vision with the AOEG: "For the whole CRC, the emphasis is on trying to create a sustainable, ...offshore aquaculture industry via demonstration of a working facility."
