19.01.2022 Well it has been a busy 3 days for me as the President of the APA Victorian Branch. I have been advocating very hard over the last 3 days to get the DHHS change the requirement for patients needing a referral from their GP to access physio treatment. It wasnt until late last night that we were successful and they changed the requirements. Our push for independent practice was not about maintaining business as usual, it is about reducing unnecessary barriers within the health... system and allowing physios, who are primary practice health workers, to use their clinical judgement for patients requiring care. This is a win for our patients. What this means is that we can still see our clients for all urgent or essential care in the clinic without the need for them to get a referral from their GP. The Government recommendations and new restrictions still allow for you leave your home to attend medical and healthcare appointments, this includes Physiotherapy. The 5km radius does not apply for those who need to receive healthcare services. We are committed to reducing movement in the community so are continuing to offer telehealth as a remote service. Filming for a 9 News piece tonight. Tom Hindhaugh

17.01.2022 Like most of us here you may be very excited to finally be heading back to the gym. However be careful when first stating back. Don't think that you will be able to lift the same weights you did prior to the lockdown. Your body has most likely become deconditioned to lifting the heavier weights. Here is some quick advice for you when you restart: Reduce your normal weights by 30% to start Gradually increase the weights by 10% each week Do shorter sessions to begin with... Make sure your form is good. Have a few PT sessions to review your program Make sure you warm up properly before hand and cool down after Do extra stretching sessions If you do get pain and niggles for more than 2 days then call us to see if you need some treatment. Remember, the chances of an injury are the highest when your body is deconditioned. See more

08.01.2022 With the latest Stage 4 restrictions being announced in Victoria from today, we would like to let all our clients know that all services are still running. We continue to maintain our strict safety & hygiene practices for your safety. As an essential health service, Back In Motion Bayswater clients can travel outside of their 5km restriction zone to attend health & medical care. We will provide another update after further guidance is released by the Department of Health.

08.01.2022 In accordance with stage 4 restrictions we can only see clients face to face for essential care, routine treatment is not permitted. So that means we can only see clients if their condition would significantly deteriorate without treatment, resulting in an escalation of care. For non-essential care we are still recommending Telehealth consultations. We can assess our clients via video chat and advise if face to face treatment is required. If you have an appointment scheduled or are looking to make an appointment please call us on 9720 3007 to discuss the best approach for your treatment during this time. Thank you for your understanding and support.

03.01.2022 An interesting article to read highlighting the differences between physio, chiro, osteo and myotherapy. The advice is to make sure that they are goal focussed, have exercises and self management as a priority. We definitely answer YES to these questions: 1.Will they consider my overall health status, social situation, and hobbies to create a treatment plan? 2.Will they educate me on the importance of actively self-managing my aches and pains? 3.Will they encourage me to und...ertake exercise and/or physical activity? 4.Will they ask me about my goals and what I want the outcome to be? 5.Will they help me determine what to do if my aches and pains flare up in the future? https://www.abc.net.au//physiotherapist-chiroprac/12911958 See more

01.01.2022 In light of the recent developments with a Melbourne Stage 3 lockdown we wanted to give you a quick update. Physiotherapy and all healthcare is deemed essential by the Victorian Government. This means that we are operating as (mostly) normal and seeing our clients face to face in the clinic. We will continue to operate our exceptionally high levels of cleanliness, observe safe social distancing and will continue to implement measures throughout the clinic to ensure that we pr...ovide a safe space for our clients and staff. Our commitment to the community is to provide ongoing quality health care through these uncertain times. We will continue to offer telehealth services to those who are unable to attend the clinic. We will reduce our class size to a maximum of 3 people to increase or save distancing measures. One on one pilates and clinical exercise will be available at a reduced cost between 10am-2pm. Temperature check to ensure we screen for those unwell. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns or questions you may have, we will do our absolute best to help you. Please be safe and take care of yourself and others.
