25.01.2022 This is our fav!!!!! Warm ups are a great way to increase oxygen and blood flow throughout the body to prepare ourselves for physical activity. ... However, every sport / activity / exercise requires different and specific muscle groups to perform optimally. Once you finish your warm up make sure you spend some time activating the muscles most utilised in your activity/ sport. This will not only benefit your performance but also decrease fatigue of other muscle groups which you may start to compensate with. For example if we are doing a run session we should activate our glutes to take the load off our quads and knees. Swimming activation should be specific to thoracic, pec and our shoulder complex.

24.01.2022 Get Up & Move - Why what we're doing now will help us later. As majority of us are working from home, we are finding a significant trend of workers doing less incidental exercise. Think of all the times you walked to a meeting room, walked down stairs to grab a coffee or your commute to work. Although it may have only been brief, it was exercise.... All of these things, although simple, ensured that we were regularly activating our muscles, lengthening our muscles and promoting blood flow When we race back into the gyms, into our recreational sport or our yoga classes over the next few months, we need to make sure our bodies and muscles are prepared to prevent us from developing an injury. So make sure your taking regular breaks. Walk down to the local cafe and grab a coffee, get outside, walk up and down your stairs a few times, or even put your headphones in and do your meeting whilst walking. Get creative about moving

20.01.2022 After exercise it is important to remove any toxins and byproducts produced during exercise. To remove these toxins we need to slowly pump them towards the heart . A great cool down idea is a 5 -10 minute slow jog/ walk post exercise . If your someone who always ends up feeling sore and tender the following day after exercise, make sure you give this a go!

18.01.2022 Research shows that horses can identify anxiety, stress, and fear in humans, thus equine therapy sessions can help individuals to identify these emotions in themselves. Our friends @equine_ananda are still working throughout these stage 4 restrictions to help people who may be feeling overwhelmed with 2020, anxious or stressed. I mean who doesn't love a chance to get out in the fresh air and hang out with these guys

16.01.2022 Warm ups are important to ensure the body is ready to perform optimally. If the body is warm, it will allow the muscles to receive and utilise oxygen as well as remove waste efficiently. Make sure your warm ups are specific to your activity. If your heading out for a long interval run session a small slow jog would be fab. However if your heading out for a round of golf, going for a jog isn't warming up the specific muscles you would need for golf. A warm up that is targeting your thoracic rotation, upper body and hip flexors would be ideal

08.01.2022 Stretching is a great way to prevent tightness and DOMS( delayed onset muscle soreness) in the muscles post exercise. Without stretching, our muscles will gradually shorten and will reduce the muscles ability to be activated at its full capacity. Therefore altering our performance.

05.01.2022 This afternoon we did a wonderful session with @equine_ananda . With so much going on in the world and so little control it is so important to ground yourself and find your bearings. @equine_ananda are doing such amazing experiences with horses. I've always been so naive to just how much calmness an hour spent in the presence of a horse can bring to your life. @ Back It Up Osteopathy
