01.01.2022 NOTICE OF 2020 SHOW CANCELLATION After many discussions with our executive board, management committee and our government representatives, the Beaudesert Show Society has had to make the very sad decision to cancel this year's event. Unfortunately with the uncertainty of what will be able to happen and what may happen has left us with the decision to preserve our 125th show and hold it next year.... As a committee, this has been a very difficult decision to make. Our 125th Anniversary Show was shaping up to be one that all of the community and visitors would have thoroughly enjoyed. On behalf of the executive of the Beaudesert Show Society would like to highlight the amount of time given by our committee members, chief stewards and their volunteers for the work which has already gone into the preparations for this year’s show, for this we thank you very much. As history show from the first annual show being held in 1889, there have only been four other times that the event has been cancelled as documented in the book A ton of fun by Alan Struss. In 1893, with the combination of sever cyclonic damage and flooding together with a grave financial crisis brought about the decision to abandon the show that year. The drought of 1902 was the reason the show was not held. It was quoted as the most severe ever experienced in South East QLD. The shows of 1918 and 1919 were also abandoned again because of the dry years and particularly 1919; but it was really a government directive in that year to warn all citizens not to congregate in numbers in order to minimize the spread of the highly infectious Pneumonic Influenza that made the no show decision inevitable. The 2020 show will be added to this list. Over the next few weeks we will be working through the necessary steps to effectively manage this change in circumstances. We appreciate your patience and understanding over the coming weeks. During this period we will be contacting all appropriate sponsors, exhibitors and other stake holders.
