You may need surgery in the event of a fall, which leads to immediate loss of function in the shoulder, pain that does not improve within 2 to 6 weeks, and if you are less than 60yrs old. Otherwise...You might be surprised to know that 80 percent of rotator cuff tears will improve in function and pain if exercises are done often enough for long enough. 06.01.2022 Gyms Reopening! Take it easy when you start working out again. A gradual restart to exercise is important so think about reducing your weights by 30% and then increase gradually back to your normal output. Sports clubs should take into consideration that children may likely have grown over the last few months and have coordination issues more than normal. A graduated return to sport and training can help to avoid injury that may wipe you out for another 3 months!

06.01.2022 CLICKING, CREAKING and CLUNKING! Most of us will have felt or heard these sounds in our joints on movement and whilst this might be disconcerting, if it is not painful, then it is nothing to be too concerned about. Sometimes the clicking is painful, and that is when we need to have it investigated. ... Some of the conditions include: Lateral Snapping Hip; mostly caused by a tight iliotibial band that runs down the side of the thigh that flicks over the bony projection at the widest part of your hip. Anterior Snapping Hip; relates to a tight psoas muscle flicking over the front bony rim of the pelvis. Snapping Scapular; pain and crepitus with elevation of the scapular ( shoulder blade). The most common cause of this is development of bursas in the shoulder blade in response to abnormal loading of the muscles around the shoulder. Who would have thought there are specific conditions related to clicking in our body!

THE ISSUE IS NOT THAT WE ARE SITTING, BUT RATHER WE ARE NOT MOVING! 02.01.2022 It's been great to attend the course by Lisa Howell on "training flexibility safely". There is so much video footage on the net demonstrating dancers, gymnasts, contortionists in positions that require extreme mobility. The course covers techniques that can be used to achieve the flexibility required in these disciplines, but using techniques that are safe and considerate of the long term health of the althlete/artist. All done through Zoom, without any hiccups!
