23.01.2022 Our beautiful and talented head teacher Emma Harrison is performing in Rivoli. Highly recommend you put your high waist pants on (or not) and get to Granville Town Hall to watch her!! The piece for Sydney Festival by @dancemakerscollective is beautiful, fluid, spacious and fun. Emma described as an emerging artist in the Sydney dance world is brilliant and part of a very talented ensemble of dancers. I felt very proud (like a mum) watching her perform Emma is performing every night until Saturday evening. 23.01.2022 Highly recommend taking a trip to Prince Alfred Park in Parramatta to watch Encounter its a free Sydney Festival event choreographed and directed by my dear friend Emma Saunders in collaboration with Sydney Youth Orchestras, and Youth Dance Company Fling from Bega, who nearly did not make it to Sydney because the fires . (Plus many many more collaborators) Its a large scale outdoor site specific piece, its magical and funny and very clever. 22.01.2022 Good Vibes Happen in Tribes One thing I know for certain is a creative ballet class is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends (for parents and children), connect in fun ways with existing friends and get excited about catching up with our dance friends that we only see once a week Rainbow Ballet is the best thing weve done. We have both made so so many wonderful, life-long friendships out of it. I could never have imagined how beautiful it would be! Thank you.... from AINSLEE, Mum of 5 yr old Rainbow Ballerina. Dance at The Gym Love the monochrome colour palate of costumes, the arms ... getting all dancers to have the same arms is super hard, the dancers maintaining their character and all thats happening in the background of the main storytelling. 10.01.2022 Coronavirus is certainly making life interesting at the moment. This notification is to let you know what Big Steps Little Feet is doing, and thinking about, to keep our community of students, families and teachers as safe as possible. We are conducting additional cleaning within the venues we use e.g., regularly wiping down surfaces and doing additional cleaning of toilets and bathrooms. Our teachers will also be extra vigilant about common sense practises such as regularly ...washing hands, using hand sanitiser and good personal hygiene. Over these next important months we urge our families to do the same. So when you come to our classes, we ask you keep the following points in mind: - Please wash your hands and / or use hand sanitiser upon arrival. We will have hand sanitiser on offer as best as supply will allow. As we know hand sanitiser is like liquid gold right now, but we have a couple of bottles to get us going and should have some more this week. - Be extra attentive in ensuring your children do not share food or water bottles. - If you and/or your children are unwell, particularly if you are sneezing or coughing, please rest up and return to our classes once you are well. - Follow all of the government guidelines when it comes to travel, large events and hygiene. Also note that we are regularly monitoring the NSW Health site for updates and recommendations and will respond accordingly. At this point in time all our classes are still on and will continue until there is a complete locked down. We may limit the number of people coming to parent viewing in the last week of term. Lastly, know that we will be mindful of our words and our discussions about the virus in front of the children. We (us teachers) will not be sharing or projecting our fears, feelings, anxieties or non-shallontness onto the children. We will show compassion to all families and not judge anyone for how they react, we will listen with the ears of our heart to any words the children may share about their own experience of what is currently going on in the world. Anyone work or own a vet in Sydney that may have access to the following that they could spare ?... 04.01.2022 Zooming ballet classes and virtual connection going beautifully (albeit with a few tech issues and internet speed annoyances) but Im loving it!! Getting creative with my improvisation tasks too ... dance and movement is therapy in these very surreal times.! And I just love the kids solution for a virtual ballet concert. I teach them the moves, they wear last years costume and they perform to the people in their house and record it on zoom #perfect #problemsolved (ps secretly wishing I was the owner of zoom right now!!)
