25.01.2022 Good Afternoon Breakers Swimmers and Families, we today find ourselves in uncharted waters. We recognise the threat of the Coronavirus and take it incredible seriously. Many of you would be getting updates from your childrens schools around measures that are being put in place. As we are a sub-committee of Birkdale State School P&C we take our guidance from the School and Principal Mr Greg Gosling. The direction thus far has been we are fine to proceed with tomorrow night...s club meet and most likely our Championships on Sunday. Things are changing daily though so we will keep you posted if there are any further updates. In the meantime we will do our best to spread out our families attending tomorrow nights meet and to continue to undertake the safe hygiene practices we have in place. If you have any questions please reach out to me directly on this page or via the details below. Regards, Brett Collins [email protected] 0423 608 557

Was great to acknowledge the Awesome Efforts of our Wynnum Cup Representatives, every single swimmer did the club proud on Sunday and to come home with the Cup for the first time in 10 years is a fantastic achievement that highlights the Breakers Spirit.... Special shout outs to Montana for being awarded with the Awesome Effort Award and Blake for his Awesome Cheering and Team Spirit. 18.01.2022 Good Evening Breakers Swimmers and Families, for those that werent there tonight and those that maybe didnt fully catch my announcement. This evening, I received a call from Mr Greg Gosling, Principal of Birkdale State School to inform us of the Education Queensland decision to cancel all school sports. As we are part of the Birkdale State School set up this extended to us.... Unfortunately it seems tonight was our last night of swimming for the 19/20 season. As it stands now we have had to cancel both the Sprint Championships on Sunday and the Long Distance Championships next Tuesday. At this stage it is not clear when we will be able to meet up again for our Trophy Night and AGM. It is a bitter pill to swallow to not be able to bring our season to its fitting conclusion but these are challenging times we find ourselves in. A massive thank you to all of our Breakers Swimmers and Families you have braved a particularly tough second half of the season weather wise but it has been a fun season filled with lots of laughter and effort from our swimmers. I look forward to getting the Breakers Family together as soon as we are allowed. Please stay close to our Facebook page and check your emails, when we have any further information we will share. If you have any questions please reach out to me directly on this page or via the details below. Regards, Brett Collins [email protected] 0423 608 557

So fingers crossed and remember to bring some warm clothes to keep our swimmers nice and warm and if you can a hot water bottle is a nice option too! Hopefully see you tonight

04.01.2022 Hi Breakers Families, hope everyone is safe and well. Just wanting to provide you all with an update and a few key pieces of information for upcoming dates; 1. 19/20 Trophy Presentation - (Current COVID Outbreak aside) we are looking to host this event on Sunday the 13th of September from 3pm-4:30pm on the Birkdale State School Agnes Street Oval (Next to the Pool) due to the size of the area this will allow us to host the event with limited restrictions. Breakers will provi...de food and drinks for the event and we will provide more of an update around the details for this event closer to the time. 2. 20/21 Season - We are working closely with the Birkdale State School Leadership Team to be able run a season this year. The committee are working feverishly on putting together our COVID Safe plan. What we can tell you is at this stage we will probably have to limit the number of people in the pool area to between 130-140 we are working through this plan and hope to have it available prior to our Trophy Presentation. 3. Sponsors - We would like to thank our Sponsors for the last two years of; * EDB Training Services * All States Directional Boring * INZ Electrical * Todds Fibreglass Repairs * Carolyn Mole - Redlands Realty * Outlaw Charters * JF Interior Renovations * H3Aquatics We are so grateful for their support and as a community run organisation we rely on the funds injected by these sponsors to help us run the season and provide for our swimmers. Thank you to each sponsor listed above. With this in mind we are on the look out for sponsors for the upcoming season so if you have a business or know someone who is interested in sponsoring our great little club please reach out to us.
