25.01.2022 Where would we be without the love and support of these fine Priests. Please support the Clergy Foundation Appeal this weekend in your Parish. Thank you to Fr Terry, Fr Giles and all the retired Priests who continue to serve the Diocese.

24.01.2022 Yesterday while on Palm Island I visited the gravestone of the respected and well known Sr Paule FMM who arrived on Palm Island in 1946 and died in 1994. Her request was to be buried on the island she loved and served. The head stone needs re-painting which the Diocese will attend to. Spring is definitely with us by these stunning flowering trees.

23.01.2022 Thank you for all your birthday wishes yesterday. I had a wonderful day at the Holy Spirit Seminary Queensland talking to the 6th Year Seminarians. They even had a cake for me. I was presented with a very special 130 year anniversary stole from St Joseph's Nudgee College by members of the leadership team.

22.01.2022 A joyous occasion last night in Hughenden as I confirmed these wonderful children. Milestones like this are important not only for the children but the whole parish community. I also took the opportunity to install Fr Mobin as Administrator of the Hughenden Parish. Prior to this I gathered with the Parish community to listen and to discuss what is happening in the mid west. Fr Mobin is settling in to his new Parishes and prepared one of his curries for us all last night including Townsville Catholic Education Executive Director Jacqui Francis.

20.01.2022 Last Monday I was in Brisbane to launch this very important statement. While we have no authority to tell people how to vote, it was important for the Church to point out key themes that should align with Catholic social teachings. I encourage you to take the time to read the statement - http://bit.ly/qldbishops

19.01.2022 It was a pleasure to be with the staff and supporters at Centacare this afternoon for their annual Christmas Liturgy. They do marvellous work across our Diocese every day.

19.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon on the Feast of St Ambrose, I celebrated Mass with the Clergy of the Diocese as well as some members of the Diocesan Office. During the Mass we celebrated some special anniversaries from 2020 and 2021 in advance. I thanked the Clergy for their dedication and support during the challenges we have had in 2020. I also prayed for all our Parish communities as they prepare and wait during this Advent Season.

17.01.2022 It has been a wonderful day on Palm Island today for the St Michael's School picnic. It was great to chat with Sean Choolburra who entertained the students. The island is blessed to have such a wonderful role model.

17.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of catching up with Triple M Townsville Pricey for a catch up. We spoke about many things including our preparations for Christmas. The city is very lucky to have such a passionate personality fighting for what is best for the community.

17.01.2022 Today Fr Mobin, Geoff and myself are travelling from Richmond to Winton. Along this road we came across some traffic including a huge road train. Some amazing countryside out here in the west. God is certainly present in a special way out here. Please pray for the people in the west of our Diocese.

16.01.2022 Yesterday I joined with Townsville Catholic Education Executive Director Jacqui Francis to visit St. Patrick's Catholic School - Winton and we also caught us with Winton Connect - Winton Shire Mayor Gavin Baskett. Winton is a very special place, the birthplace of Qantas. I was also asked to provide a very special blessing to the Good Shepherd Pharmacy. Last night in Winton I installed Fr Mobin as Parish Administrator and afterwards we all shared a meal together. This morning we left for Charters Towers to finish up this pastoral visit.

14.01.2022 Thank you St Benedict’s for welcoming me today for the Blessing and Opening of your new learning spaces. This is another representation of the outstanding facilities our Catholic Schools offer the community.

14.01.2022 Today I commenced a six day pastoral visit the the mid-west with the Diocesan Director of Church Life and Mission Services, Mr Geoff Gowdie. First stop Hughenden. Today we are sharing a meal at the Delbessie Station hosted by Greg and Bronwyn Mc Nanamara. Other guests include Greg and Terressa Ford, Sr Carmel and Fr Mobin. Please pray for us as we travel and meet with these very special communities.

13.01.2022 To finish off my pastoral visit to the mid west, we stopped into Charters Towers. Along the way we made a pit stop at Pentland and visited the Wookatook Cafe. A great place for a pit stop. Last night and this morning I installed Fr Emmanuel to the Parish. The locals have welcomed him to the community already. Fr Emmanuel even shared his heritage and cooked a traditional Nigerian meal for Geoff and myself. This is a very special part of the Diocese and one I enjoy visiting. Please pray for the communities that between Charters Towers and Winton.

12.01.2022 This afternoon I helped launch the Annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal with students from many Townsville Catholic Education schools and Vincentians. Last year they prepared and distributed over $100,000 worth of goods in more than 500 hampers to needy families in the community. Please support this vital appeal during this lead up to Christmas. 12.01.2022 I have started my weekend visit to Palm Island by attending the St Michael's School annual Picnic Day. We commenced with a Liturgy at the school before venturing to the beach. This certainly is a beautiful part of the Diocese. The students are having a wonderful day. Yes, I am even in the water!

10.01.2022 Last night was very special for one young gentleman from Richmond. Mitchell was confirmed at the Parish and was welcomed by the community. Mitchell took pride of place during the liturgy and was listening intently. A fine young man. I also took the opportunity of installing Fr Mobin as Parish Administrator and Sr Carmel as Parish Pastoral Ministry Coordinator. In the afternoon I caught up with Richmond Shire Council Mayor John Wharton. Here we are in front of the framed branch which I used to bless the new Council Chambers in 2017.

09.01.2022 Queensland passes law to jail priests for not reporting confessions of child sexual abuse. Catholic priests cannot break the seal of confession. +Tim

07.01.2022 This will be an important statement from the Qld Bishops prior to the October State Election. #qldpol

07.01.2022 This morning I joined my brother Bishops of Queensland in launching a State Election Statement, calling on Catholics to consider Catholic Social Teachings as they prepare to vote on October 31. "We have no monopoly on truth, but we offer these reflections in a spirit of solidarity, as people who also have to consider our vote carefully, who can draw upon a deep wisdom concerning the common good and who are called to care for the most vulnerable in our community we can point ...to clear and enduring principles which can help us make the kind of responsible judgements that allow us to be both faithful Catholics and good citizens". A copy of the statement is available here - http://bit.ly/qldbishops Watch today's statement launch here: https://bit.ly/2Zd6dxQ

06.01.2022 This morning I had a wonderful visit to St Francis Catholic School Hughenden and visited a number of classes. Our Townsville Catholic Education schools do an outstanding job of educating families across the Diocese. I also took some time to have morning tea with the staff. Earlier I had a breakfast meeting with Hughenden Mayor Jane McNamara.

04.01.2022 The Diocese is blessed to have outstanding leadership across our Catholic Schools. This is a very special message to the year 12 students as they prepare for their external exams.

03.01.2022 We are truely blessed in the Diocese to have diverse and active schools. I thank all staff, families and students for what was a very different and challenging year. The Term 4 Magazine from Townsville Catholic Education shows some highlights of 2020.

01.01.2022 It was an honour to be on Kalkadoon country this afternoon at St Kieran's Catholic School, Mount Isa to open and bless their sacred space and bush tucker garden.
