Since joining the @plasticfreecairns community, not only have we been switching from single use plastic products to reusable and compostable packaging but we have really learnt a lot about the impact these small changes is and can make to our environment and our ocean. As a business we have a responsibility not on...ly to make an impact to the world we live in, but also to our customers and providing them the opportunity to be able to contribute what they can as a consumer whether that is bringing their own containers/cutlery/straws. 05.01.2022 I have to admit that I usually don't think about the Night Markets food court when I'm planning a night out, but that will be changing after being invited to ch...eck out Blue Lagoon Bar and being very pleasantly surprised. My dining companion and I shared: Grilled Salmon with Sweet Potato Chips and Greek Salad Seafood Basket with Beer Battered Mackerel House Made Potato Scallops We enjoyed everything, but the potato scallops were my star item. Few places make them in-house. These are easily some of the tastiest I've had, and I think it comes down to a potato texture I like alongside excellent beer batter. Both my companion and I usually avoid batter when having fish and chips since it tends to be oily and unpleasant, but after hearing Dayan speak of how Blue Lagoon use real beer batter and it is a speciality of theirs, we had to give it a go. I'm glad we did as their beer batter imparts a lovely subtle savoury-sweet flavour with hardly any oil residue. I'd get it again, for sure. See more
