25.01.2022 Dear dog lovers, These past few weeks have not been easy for Melbourne and her pooches. It has been unfortunate that we were unable to operate during Stage 4 restrictions and I know many of you are concerned about the condition of your fur babies coats. We are hoping this lockdown will cease on September 13 as intended, but it wont be confirmed by the government until Sunday 6 September. So keep an eye on this page and I will be sure to update you as soon as we receive the r...eturn date for dog groomers. I have received calls from many of you and firstly want to thank you for your patience. I know many of you have had to miss your last appointments due to the lockdown. Ive been keeping track of all appointments from 6 August when Stage 4 restrictions began. There are also pre-existing bookings through to Christmas for those of you who book in advance, that are still locked in. And Ive been adding all of you who have been contacting me during lockdown, looking to book appointments also. Be assured that when I return I will groom more dogs per day and will work weekends for the first weeks, until all of your fur babies have been groomed and have caught up on their appointments. But I ask for your patience and grace. Im sure you will understand that I am only able to groom a certain amount of dogs per day and there are only 7 days in the week. There may be some of you who wont get appointments as soon as you may like, but I will reschedule everybody as fairly and efficiently as is possible. Obviously first priority will be given to clients who regularly book their appointments well in advance and I will be sure to schedule everyone else in order of when you were originally booked in the weeks of lockdown or if you made contact during lockdown. I will contact you individually via text as usual about your appointments once we have the return date. In the meantime, please be mindful of the following: - Brush and comb your dog as much as you can to ensure matting does not become insurmountable. Friction areas are of most importance (under collar, behind ears, underbelly, inside elbows, rump etc). - Our appointments may take a little longer as coats will be longer, which will take longer to groom. - Because of the longer and potentially more matted coats, I may need to clip shorter than I usually would. Please prepare for that possibility and prepare younger children as well so theyre not unpleasantly surprised. Hopefully Spring will come on time and with warmer weather they wont be too cold should this happen. Heres hoping were almost there Melbourne. Stay safe. Take care. 22.01.2022 Dear dog lovers, Unfortunately we are still unable to report any changes to the current directives regarding our return date. As it stands, mobile and home groomers are due to return to work at Step 3 on Monday 26 October, as long as the daily average numbers of new cases state wide in the previous 14 days is less than 5 AND less than 5 cases with an unknown source. I’d also like to mention that as we draw closer to that date (or should the date be brought forward whichever... comes first), I will do my absolute best to book doggies in as efficiently and as fairly as is humanely possible. However, I need to remind you that I ask for your grace and understanding. I am self employed and will have to work extra hard during the first month to catch everybody up. It will take me around 3-4 weeks to catch up on all overdue appointments because at the moment - all doggies are overdue. If I can’t get to you in the first week, I will in the 2nd or 3rd and ask that you please have that extra bit of patience if I can’t get to you in the first week. My process of prioritising doggies will include collating information such as how frequently a dog is groomed, what length they were last groomed at, when they were last groomed (not just tidied) etc. So if you’re not booked until the 3rd week, please don’t think you are not important to me because the welfare of ALL of your fur babies is important to me. It’s just that there may be some doggies scheduled before yours, who will likely be in worse condition. It may be hard to believe, but it will be true. Due to the health and welfare of all my matted long fur customers, I trust you will understand that my short fur customers will have to wait until the 3rd and 4th week for an appointment. To all my short fur dog owners, I am truly sorry for this, but matted long fur dogs must take priority. As soon as a return date has been confirmed by the Premier’s office (of course we’re all crossing fingers and paws that the announcement this Sunday will include bringing our return date forward), I will be contacting you individually to schedule your appointments. If you are concerned about the health and welfare of your fur baby, I urge you to consider calling around the local veterinarian clinics to see if theyre offering emergency grooming for dogs with health concerns. We are all so incredibly disappointed about the extended lockdown and hope fervently that we will be included in the sectors who are able to return to work on Monday 28 September, but at th...is stage we have no confirmation about our status from the government. 19.01.2022 Dear dog lovers, As you may now be aware, retail dog grooming services will re-open in the Second Step of the Victorian Governments Roadmap on 28 September. However, please click on the following link, to see that this unfortunately does not include mobile grooming" services: https://www.vic.gov.au/second-step-coronavirus-road-to-reco Our team at Blue Wheelers head office are tirelessly working to have our case heard to return mobile grooming before the third step on 26 Oc...tober, but we are unable to announce any changes to the existing directive at this time. I will be appealing to the local Caulfield MP David Southwick in writing , which is something you may also wish to consider. Keep an eye on this page for further updates in the coming days and weeks. 18.01.2022 Dear doggie lovers, After watching this morning's press conference, it seems there have been no changes regarding the return date for mobile groomers specifically. However, the date for Step 3 has been brought forward to Monday 19 October. Keep in mind this is only if the target of daily averages for new cases across the state are 5 or less, as well as 5 cases or less from unknown sources.... Given we are currently at 22.7 for the state, I am going to hold off scheduling appointments for another week or two. Should the numbers show promise, I will start contacting people in the week or two leading up to our return to work on Monday 19 October. Regrettably our MELBOURNE Groomers are not able to continue working throughout the current Stage 4 Lockdowns. Therefore we have decided to cease grooming in Melbourne for the time being. ...
