25.01.2022 For Australians and New Zealanders, the annual Anzac Day on 25 April is when those who gave their lives and suffered in the defense of their countries and freedom are remembered. The adventures in the old cars through Central Asia and the Caucasus were during the year of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War 2. There are many Memorials in these countries to the sacrifice so many made in defence of the former Soviet Union. Many millions died. Here are a few photos of s...ome of the Memorials in Almaty in Kazakhstan, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Taskent in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and with the final photo of a tapestry depicting Stalin and Lenin in the Stalin Museum at Gori in Georgia. July 5 at 4:36 PM I loved this handsomely presented book: a perfect balance of travelogue, friends-on-the-road adventure, geography/geology lessons, and cultural insight into a part of the world many of us clearly dont know anywhere near enough about. John is a natural story teller. His warm authorial voice steers us through this vast, diverse region, ultimately revealing how people of good heart - whether they be a bunch of blokes on a somewhat mad caper, or the decent ordinary folk of Asia/Eurasia - can actually make the world a better place just by being themselves.

She said 'those guys have so many friends in WA and they are all buying this book.' 17.01.2022 I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Bondi to the Baltic. I was fascinated by the way you were able to balance car stories with local colour/geography/geology, with human interestit all worked really well. Naturally I loved the bits where experiences linked up. You made a different decision to me at the Stalin Museum in Gori, by actually buying a Stalin tea towel. I thought it would be fun to buy a mess of Stalin coffee mugs for presents when I got back home. But the truth is I could not do itcould not even buy one. Craig C.
