25.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: SMOKIN' DOG JOHNSON Smokin' Dog Johnson is Boolarra's own blues, psychedelic rock, cover band. They evoke the spirit of the 60's and 70's with songs by bands such as Canned Heat, The Doors and Chain. Band members are Chelsea Stewart (vocals), Clayton Cupples (guitar), Tristan Stewart (bass), Grant McNeill (harmonica) and Shane Clark (drums).



23.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: BORDERLINE Borderline’s musicians have been performing in Gippsland for over many years, with each member having been in a range of bands including rock, pop, jazz, cabaret and country groups. Dan Boothman is renowned throughout Gippsland as being one of the best singers in the district, through his many years in bands and with the Strzelecki Stringbusters. Dan has been working in bands since his teenage years, and is well respected for his instrumental wor...k on the guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Carolyne Boothman is also a respected musician in Gippsland, having won several awards in Gippsland singing and song-writing competitions. Fellow musicians call her the Alison Krauss of Gippsland, and Carolyne admits Krauss is one of her idols. Carolyne also plays acoustic guitar and ukulele. Rick Teychenne is recognised as one the best bass guitarists in the region, having many years of experience in bands like Sophisticated Swing, and many others. Rick has brought strong vocal harmonies and his sweet vocal tone to the group as well. Keith Buck Ingleton is a drumming icon in Gippsland, having played in many bands throughout Gippsland and beyond for over 50 years. Buck brings his talented vocal work to the group as well as his terrific rhythm work. Alex McGregor joined the band early in 2019. Well known from his days in the Rennie Jones Trio, his brilliant skills on the keyboard and in singing, have provided a new element to the music of Borderline. Songs like It’s too late and I can see clearly now sound fabulous with the full keyboard sound. Borderline performs a range of covers and own compositions, featuring great instrumental work and strong, blended harmonies. Borderline released it’s first CD in 2019, Terry’s Jam, dedicated to founding member and bass player, Terry Cupples.

17.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: DIRTY RASCAL Life-affirming this is songwriting to stir the soul Jeff Jenkins, The Music. DIRTY RASCAL offer a fresh, bright sound in Australian music. A Powerhouse rhythm section featuring Grammy award winner Jerry Speiser (Men at Work) and Ian McDonald (Stars), keyboards from Mal Jones (The Three Canadians) with guitars and mandolin from songwriters Andrew McSweeney (Midnight Hunting Crew, Kutcha Edwards) and ARIA winner John Fleming (Scared Weird Lit...tle Guys), capped off with lush vocal harmonies, all in the natural tuning of A432. Acknowledgement of the power of the masculine and the feminine in songs which stretch from sweet country rock through epic soaring double guitar solos into reggae and funk grooves. 11.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: LITTLE ORCHESTRA OF ABUNDANCE The Little Orchestra of Abundance (LOA) is a large ensemble/musical collective of over 25 men and women drawn from Boolarra, Yinnar, Mirboo North and surrounds who formed to have fun, enjoy the big sounds and encourage young musicians from the local area. We’ve been playing and singing upbeat and happy harmonies since April this year working with Gospel, Bluegrass and contemporary covers. Excited to have been chosen to play at the 2020 Boolarra Folk Festival, we hope the energy of such a large polka dot clad group, is infectious.

10.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: THE BRIAGOLONG BUSH BAND The Briagolong Bush Band are celebrating their 40th birthday. Originating from monthly, smokey, fun filled jam nights at the Briagolong Hotel in 1980 the band soon gained popularity and became known far and wide and has been performing ever since. Proudly based in Gippsland they have collectively and individually played all over Australia and overseas and continue to amaze audiences with their dexterity and musicality ... From festival concerts to bush dances in the heart of the city, or in every nook and cranny of the country, their evocative often quirky original or traditional songs and brilliant fiddle arrangements of blazing Celtic and Euro tunes have something for everyone.

08.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: TIM SCANLAN & MANA OKUBO One man band Tim Scanlan teams up with fiddler Mana Okubo from Japans ‘John John Festival’, mixing ancient tunes and drones with modern beats and sounds. Over the last 5 years they've taken their music around the world from the streets of the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland to the live houses of Tokyo. Playing festivals including the National Celtic Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Interceltique Festival in France, this duo always has the dance floor filled with their mix of Irish, Scottish, French Canadian and original tunes and songs.



07.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: SHANTYTOWN Shantytown are a lively 7 piece band that plays a vibrant mix of early Jamaican dance music (called Rocksteady) along with Reggae and Occasional fun Ska tunes. The band plays regularly in the Melbourne scene and the line-up includes 3 horn players, Hammond Keyboard Player, Bass, Drums and Jamaican/English singer Paul Jamieson. The music is an appealing mix of classics from Toots and The Maytals, The Wailers, and Desmond Dekker alongside fresh or...iginal songs in the same styles. The Highly professional line-up includes Steve Phillips (Melbourne Ska Orchestra), Pete Ryan (The Andy Layfield Band), Paul Jamieson (Sugar Blue) and Jason Rolfe (Immortal Horns). Shantytown plays often at Jamaica Jump a special event held at The Gasometer, Collingwood, The Union Club Hotel, Brunswick, Open Studio (Northcote) and Sooki Bar, Belgrave. Festivals have included The Wagga Wagga Jazz and Blues Festival and Castlemaine Music Festival.

05.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: DESTINY BAND OZ 'Destiny Band Oz' are Australian husband and wife singer-songwriters, performers and recording artists, Thomas and Tessa Libreri. They are based locally in Gippsland and perform their own county/rock/soul style originals, 'good time' classics and fun tribute shows at clubs, pubs, festivals and functions all over Australia as a duo or with their full band line up which comprises Ron Armstrong on keyboards, John Disisto on drums and Bob Hutt...on on bass. Tessa provides lead vocals and some rhythm guitar; Thomas sings and plays lead guitar. The pair have recorded 3 albums and 2 EPs which are all available on iTunes, Spotify etc and since their first single release in 2017, they've had multiple #1 and top 10 hits on the Australian and International radio airplay charts and have won countless awards. 05.01.2022 PERFORMER PROFILE: STEPHEN McCULLOCH Stephen McCulloch is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Melbourne, Australia. His music draws on folk, country, rock and pop sounds, with intricate acoustic guitar work and a voice that ranges from gentle and tender to soaring and powerful. His songs explore the joy and pain of being human with an honesty that is ultimately uplifting. McCulloch’s performances on Channel 9’s The Voice in 2015 helped propel his debut alb...um Good Things Take Time to number 15 on the Australian iTunes Singer/songwriter charts and he has performed at major festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival and Maldon Folk Festival. His early exposure to music came through his father’s country record collection, with Charlie Pride, Neil Young, Slim Dusty and Merle Haggard all featuring heavily in the family home in Gippsland in rural Victoria.
