25.01.2022 Aqua Aerobics is starting next week Tuesday 8am Thursday 9:30am

25.01.2022 #COVID-19 update: 1:45pm Sunday 19 April 2020 UPDATE ON OUR BEACHES Three weeks ago we made the decision to close beaches to help stop the spread of C...oronavirus. And while we know the past three weeks have been difficult on our beach-going lifestyle, the closure has helped stopped the spread. Since then, the Government has introduced new social distancing and group gathering restrictions. We now feel we can allow our beaches to be accessed safely for exercise purposes only. With that in mind, beginning tomorrow, Randwick Citys beaches including Coogee, Maroubra and Clovelly Beaches will be made available for exercise purposes only. What does this mean? People must maintain social distancing - 1.5 metres between each other when at the beach. Groups will be limited to two people only and they must move on when exercise is complete. Sitting or sun-baking on the sand will not be permitted. Surfing will be allowed. Swimming will be allowed. Soft sand running will be allowed. "We urge everybody to do the right thing and practice social distancing while exercising so we can maintain access for exercise purposes and get through this difficult period together, commented Mayor Said. We know everyone is keen to get back to the beach but wed like to thank everyone who stayed home and stayed off the beach for the past three weeks - you really did make a difference. 20.01.2022 The Malabar Magic Organising Committee is deeply disappointed to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Malabar Magic, due to deteriorating weather forecasts, pr...edicted dangerous surf conditions, visibility and water quality. Our main concern is the safety and experience of ocean swimmers and the water safety volunteers. So, we make this decision based on advice from Surf Life Saving and in consultation with Randwick City Council lifeguards. The Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim is the main fundraising event for Rainbow Club who provide 1,000 swimming lessons for children with a disability each week. Thank you to all our swimmers and fundraisers who have continued to support us for the past 12 years. Your efforts are appreciated and vital for us to enable the growth and support for hundreds of children with disabilities on waiting lists. We thank the Mayor of Randwick City Council, our sponsors & suppliers Danny Said- Labor for Randwick South Ward, Randwick City Council, Macquarie Group, Ottomin, 13cabs Meriton Group, Woolworths, Liftronic, Billard Leece Partnership, Captain Cook Cruises, Snap Print & Design, Maroubra Lions Club, Pattis Hire, Speedo Australia, Coates Hire Corporate Office, DMC fins, Maroubra SLSC, IGA Cremorne, the Randwick City Lifeguards, water safety personnel and volunteers who have supported and advised us. Please accept our sincere apologies and regret in not being able to share The Magic with you all this year. We look forward to more community support in an even bigger and better 2021 Malabar Magic Ocean Swim. More information will be circulated via email. For any urgent enquiries, please contact [email protected]

17.01.2022 The 2020 National NAIDOC Poster, Shape of Land, was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander man. Tyrown’s artwork tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
