15.01.2022 Help Cairo get his Assistance Dog We are fundraising to get little Cairo the help he needs! Cairo has kidney disease and has been on dialysis since he was 6 months old. He is now 16 months old and is awaiting a kidney transplant in the next year. Due to his poor kidney function he has developed other issues, he has bone disease which greatly limits his mobility and has formed an eating disorder forcing Cairo to be 100% tube fed. Why Cairo needs your help... Assistance dogs are professionally trained dogs, raised from pups and trained for 12-18 months to help people with disabilities costing around $30k to train. If we can raise 20k of this to get Cairo an assistance dog, Cairo will get a personally trained dog to help match his level of disabilities. He requires help for medical, emotional and physio needs. How an Assistance Dog can help Cairo Cairo’s assistance dog will accompany him everywhere he goes. His dog will be trained to calm him during times of anxiety and to ease pain during his routine procedures & vomits that cause him distress daily. His dog will provide him mobility support and alert us to medical episodes whilst protecting him from causing danger to himself. 03.01.2022 Dear Members As a business built around community, the wellbeing of our members has always been our foremost value. This not only includes our members’ physical wellbeing, but their mental and financial wellbeing as well. Following the announcement from Scott Morrison, we will have to close doors indefinitely from 12pm Monday 23rd. Whilst we have been expecting this, the shock and realisation of Brisbane Boxing having to temporarily close after over 10 years of business has h...it us all very hard. As hard as it has hit us, what means most to us is our members. For this reason we have decided to suspend all member accounts until further notice without any fees. What makes a community is being there for each other in times of hardship, and in these uncertain times, we want to be there for you. We realise that for many of you Brisbane Boxing is as much about mental health as physical health. For this reason we are working hard to identify ways in which we can service our community in this next period. If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding this we would love to hear it. For those of you who have reached out to us about wanting to continue your payments, whilst words can’t express our appreciation for you, we will not be taking this up. Without providing a service, we do not feel it is right to be accepting payments from members. We’re sure there are people out there far more deserving of your generosity then ourselves, especially in these challenging times.
