13.01.2022 Did you know that according to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Australia has suffered from the hottest and driest year on record in 2019? This has set the scene for the catastrophic bushfires which had devastating impact on people and property, wildlife, ecosystems and the environment. Sadly, **Australia has identified 113 animal species which will need "urgent help" after their numbers and habitats were devastated by recent bushfires.** All species on the list h...ave lost at least 30% of their habitat due to the mammoth blazes in the south and east over Australia's summer. Apply to SHAPE now, for your chance to learn more about what climate change challenges the APAC region is facing: [https://shapeapac2020.typeform.com/to/kDj01W]

12.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who helped partner with us on this survey. Last year we achieved 26000 responses - this year we set a target of 30000 and absolutely smashed it, with well over 31000 people aged 18-35 sharing their opinions about the world. These voices are incredibly valuable for world policy-makers to hear, and we are now working to disseminate your views to them directly.

06.01.2022 On August 4, Beirut Port in Lebanon was hit with a devastating explosion that rocked the city, with thousands of people wounded, thousands of buildings damaged, and an unknown number of people killed or missing. #UPFORLEBANON is a global campaign launched by Global Shapers Beirut, in collaboration with Anera, to unite people for Lebanon and to collect funds to give immediate support to the Lebanese population affected by the Beirut blast. It’s been estimated that more than 20...0,000 people are left without homes. The main port for Lebanon has moved to Tripoli and billions of dollars of goods and food have been destroyed in a country already struggling with a pandemic, food insecurity and a collapsing currency. To effectively respond, we must act now and together to save lives and prevent such tragedies from happening in the future. Please spread the word and donate here: https://bit.ly/2PBg4IK

02.01.2022 Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the bushfires, and those helping the fight. This is an unprecedented tragedy for Australia and our local communities so we encourage everyone to support our local organisations. Here are a few ideas: Contribute to disaster relief with Australian Red Cross https://www.redcross.org.au//disaster-relief-and-recovery-... Help affected communities and drop off toiletries, non perishable items, food and water at Foodbank Queensland Ltd 179 Beverley St, Morningside QLD 4170 Check on your neighbours, particularly the elderly, disabled or otherwise impaired. Poor air quality particularly affects the elderly and asthmatic, so even if youre not in a bushfire zone, your neighbours may still be at risk. Support local brigades: QLD: https://www.rfbaq.org/donate-to-a-brigade NSW: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/volun/support-your-local-brigade VIC: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/about/supporting-cfa SA: https://cfsfoundation.org.au/donate Support the rescue of injured, sick or orphaned wildlife: https://www.wires.org.au/donate/emergency-fund Assist those displaced by the bushfire crisis by sparing a bed: https://www.findabed.info https://www.news.com.au///a0476ac3538b8c373f281ea6be204421

01.01.2022 How can we see equal? William Stubbs from Global Shapers Brisbane Hub on #WeSeeEqual "To really achieve equality, we must not only empower women through systems, role models and, I believe, temporary quotas, but also foster generations through education."
