15.01.2022 WEEKEND WASH UP ROUND 2 OF THE T20 COMPETITION V HELENSVALE BROADBEACH 6-128 LOST TO HELENSVALE 6-129... All losses hurt but when you lose a game you really should have won, it stings a bit more... This was the case at Helensvale yesterday... T20 cricket is a game of ebbs and flows and the momentum of the game can change in an over. We batted first and had a poor start losing Brockley in the second over for 0 and Baker in the 4th who contributed a quickfire 16 of 13 balls... 2-18 off 4 overs and they were on top, new comer Nikhil Verma and the inform Dhanushka Mitipolarachchi steadied the ship and got us to 65 before we lost Nikhil for 13 off 19. Jake Grove and Dhani put us in complete control of the match and we were 3-105 of 15 overs with 5 overs to go and 7 wickets in hand... This is where we could have put ourselves in a winning position by posting another 40-50 runs, instead we lost 5 wickets and could only manage another 23 runs to finish at 8-128.. Dhani was all class again posting 50 off 44 balls, Jake Grove 16 from 17 and without a nice little cameo from Jaden Davis at the end (11no of 5), our finish may have been poorer.. Still, 128 was a competitive score and when we had them 3-25, we had the game for the taking... Full credit to Helensvale from here, they did not panic, batted sensibly and took the score to 98 before losing their next wicket...that partnership won the game for them...they went on to pass us in the 19th over and 6 wickets down... We take nothing away from Helensvale, their run chase was all class but we should have score 20-25 more runs which would have changed the context of the game... A disappointing result in the end, however, as long as we learn from it and try to get better, that is what is important.. We have a double header next weekend and are still very much in the mix to make the final if we can win both of our games against the winless Burleigh and Alberton who have played 3 games each and lost 3 games each..

14.01.2022 A massive thanks to Choices Flooring Bundall for their support of the club with our new netting area! On ya Dave

12.01.2022 Gold Coast Dolphins update In reference to the 16's & 19's age groups As some may be aware, QC are starting up the under 19’s Premier Grade competition again. This is great news for Gold Coast cricketers looking to take the next step in their cricketing journey after their GC junior rep and then Dolphins Lords Taverners programs have finished. ... If you know of any players in this cricketing wilderness landscape of 16-19 years old who may not want to commit to an entire season of premier grade cricket but would like to dip their toes in the water, this might be the vehicle to do so. Likely be 5 games played on Sundays in September and October with GF in early Nov. Players would need to be registered with the Dolphins to be eligible for selection (obviously). If any of your players are interested in playing for the Dolphins in this competition, please contact Chris Swan 0418695554 or email [email protected]. Coaching this team is Simon Belston and captaining is one of QLDS finest up and coming batsmen Hugo Burdon.

12.01.2022 To All Cats Members and Supporters, We are very pleased and excited to announce that on behalf of the Queensland Government and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, our club has been awarded a significant grant to upgrade the lighting and the nets. This will benefit our club from an image perspective and ensure our players are training under the best possible conditions. These grants, however, are not easy to obtain, a massive shout out to Brendan Howard for putting much of the application together and also to Natalie McMahon who is a Professional Grants writer who then refined and lodged the application. Lastly, on behalf of the Broadbeach Robina CC, we would like to thank Yvette D’Ath MP, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice who gave the approval for this grant to go ahead, we very much appreciate this kind gesture. We will have the funds into our account in 14 days and the intention is to upgrade the facility asap, I am sure we all look forward to the finished product. 07.01.2022 WEEKEND WASH UP ROUND 1 OF THE T20 COMPETITION V QUEENS BROADBEACH 4-129 DEFEATED QUEENS ALL OUT 61... 5 TALKING POINTS 1- 5 debutants for the Cats including a 14 and a 15 year old 2- Jamo Allen on track for a first grade debut 3- Conan Sternberg is like a fine wine, getting better with age 4- Dhanushka Mitipolarachchi was outstanding 5- The skipper’s(Kyle Brockley) captaincy was clinical Getting sent into bat on a sticky, tacky wicket, batting was always going to be a challenge. We broke the game down into quarters of 5 overs, Brockley and Baker did the job very nicely in the first, after 5 overs we were 0-33. The second 5 overs, however, did not go to plan and we limped to 4-63 of 13 overs... The 14th over changed the game back into our favour, Dhanushka launched into one of their bowlers and took 16 of the over and he batted through the innings to finish with 44 not out of 31 balls. One of our new recruits Jake Grove, came in at 4-63 and batted to the end with Dhanushka putting on 66 valuable runs in 7 overs, he finished with 27 not out of 25 balls with a couple of big sixes and we ended up on 4-129 of our allotted 20 overs which we felt was a very good score considering the conditions... We were switched on in the field from the start, another new recruit, Dan Mason, opened the bowling and took a crucial wicket in his first over for the club.. Queens were soon 4-15 and we were right on top, they fought back to be 5-59 and creeping back into the game, some good bowling changes put an end to that with Queens losing their last 5 wickets for 2 runs and ended up all out for 61. Conan Sternberg (Mr Relaible) bowled in all the right areas and finished with 3-12 off 3 overs. Jamo Allan bowled beautifully and finished with 2-11 of 3 overs and a classy run out to go with it... Special mention also to our 3 debutants (Alistair Johnson who is 15 , Gabe Leith who is 14 and Nikhil Verma) None of them had a bat or a bowl but were terrific in the field and were awesome team players and will be in the side next weekend.. Well done to all, a good start to the season. We play Helensvale at Helensvale next Saturday at 2pm..
