25.01.2022 Update on our current status. It's been a difficult period during the COVID restrictions and the impact it's had on our ability to open. We will be waiting for November 22 to assess whether we can safely operate again and the steps we need to take to protect the public and our members. Updates will be provided on our Facebook page.

24.01.2022 The wild weather has brought down some shrubs and tree branches around the track. Not to mention the rain has encouraged lots of weeds.

24.01.2022 To all our Facebook friends. To ensure the well-being of our volunteers and the community we are suspending public running until further notice. I hope that you all keep well during this time.

23.01.2022 To all our Facebook friends due to the heavy rain conditions have made it unsafe to operate today. We apologise for any disappointment but we value the safety of our passengers. BHR

23.01.2022 Just a reminder to all that the Bulla Hill Railway will be open between 12noon and 4pm this Sunday April 15. We hope that you can come by for a ride around the track. For all those young budding engineers we have managed to source a steam train you can build made of plastic blocks. Available from our kiosk.

23.01.2022 To all our Facebook friends. We are looking for some concrete blocks to stabilise the cuttings around the track. If you have any that you can donate please let us know. See the attached photo. BHR

21.01.2022 It is really really frustrating for our members. Just after the damage and break in we had a few weeks back, members arrived this morning to find that we had been subjected to some mindless vandalism around the club track. A couple of the railway crossing gates had been broken, posts pulled from the ground and signage destroyed. It would appear that this occurred sometime between Sunday and Tuesday night. Meanwhile repairs are under way...again.

21.01.2022 Our run day this 17th March coincides with St Patricks Day. Why not come along and see what has been happening at Bulla Hill Railway. Members have been busy completing repairs, building, painting and having an occasional play on the tracks.

20.01.2022 This train is waiting for you

19.01.2022 How about something not quite railway related but wouldnt this be a great addition to Bulla Hill Railway

19.01.2022 Maintenance around the railway is always ongoing. Here are a couple of photos showing replacement of firebox cladding on one of our steam locomotives

19.01.2022 With the improving weather we would like to advise our friends and followers that in addition to our normal run on the third Sunday of each month, the railway will be open to the public on Sunday 4 November 2018 and Sunday 2 December 2018

19.01.2022 We hope that everyone is well and keeping safe. I thought that I could update everyone with this post together with a couple of photos. Prior to lockdown one of our members had been testing their locomotive before beginning painting. Grounds maintenance has been sporadic. Much of the work before lockdown had been keeping the weeds down to manageable levels. Always disappointing is the activity of vandals, especially given that our income is non existent and its disheartening to repair/replace vandalised items with diminished funds. On a positive note a big shout out to the Hume City Council drainage crew who have done excellent work in preventing water run-off from eroding our cuttings.

17.01.2022 Spring has arrived at Bulla. Weather is fine today, and looking forward to sharing the same on Sunday. Sunday Market is on as well.

17.01.2022 This is an example of a High Temperature difference hot air engine. Using methylated spirits in the burner, it will run for a good ten minutes

16.01.2022 Our first run day for 2021 is this Sunday 17th January. We're operating with a number of restrictions in place. Please see our previous post for full details. We ask that patrons be patient and respectful to each other and our volunteers.

16.01.2022 The following selection is of live steam engines that have been built using a mini lathe

16.01.2022 We had a great write up in the local paper this week. A big thanks to reporter Jessica and photographer Damian from Star Weekly.

15.01.2022 Even when the day is too hot to do work around the grounds lots of things get finished. Not only do we have to contend with rabbits, but birds keep digging out our propagation attempts. So we now have a Flora Cage to keep them safe

15.01.2022 We hope that everyone is staying safe and keeping well. Here are a few photos from the railway from happier times.

15.01.2022 Just a quick reminder for all our Facebook friends; the trains will be running at the railway this Sunday. Why not rug up and take a ride around in the fresh air.

14.01.2022 Behind the scenes at Bulla Hill Railway. Lots of work gets done for our run day.

13.01.2022 This engine is over 30+ years and was last fired up for around 15 years. A few steam leaks mean that it will need to have sealing washers replaced but otherwise its working.

13.01.2022 This Sunday is our run day. It's looking like there may be a little rain so make sure you're prepared.

11.01.2022 Our next run day will be Sunday 16 June. We have been busy planting and mulching. Everyone has been hard at work.

11.01.2022 This Sunday August 20 is our public run day. Rug up and come for a ride between 12noon and 4pm. Last train leaves at 3:45.

11.01.2022 To all our friends, we wish to advise that our next run day will be this Sunday March 15th. We will be closely monitoring government advice with respect to COVID-19 and public events. To ensure community health and well-being please do not attend if you are not feeling well, have a fever or cough. Simple hygiene that includes washing hands and using tissues when coughing and sneezing should also be practiced.

11.01.2022 More projects from our members in lockdown. This is of a small G scale locomotive progressing along together with an image of it in full scale.

10.01.2022 This Sunday 17th November is our run day. With the recent rain things have been growing and flowering. We even had a flock of yellow tailed black cockatoos visit. In between the rain work around the track has been progressing.

10.01.2022 Just a quick reminder that Bulla Hill Railway will be open today. A Total Fire Ban means that we cannot have Steam locomotives operating. Diesel locomotives are okay.

10.01.2022 The March run day has come and gone While the weather couldnt quite make up its mind it was a good day for a ride around the track. On a more disconcerting note, our crew arrived early Sunday to find that we had been broken into. Our float money was stolen together with our EFTPOS machine. Together with the damage done to property, the loss was a reasonable blow to the club. Very frustrating for a volunteer group like ours.

09.01.2022 Our display at the Sunshine Model Railway exhibition at Braybrook college.

08.01.2022 This Sunday is our run day. Its looking like there may be a little rain so make sure youre prepared.

07.01.2022 School holidays are now over and it seems that summer is not far off. One Grand Final is over (Hope your team won) and another is about to start. Come along this Sunday for a ride on the trains at Bulla Hill Railway

07.01.2022 Sunday 19th January is our first run for 2020. Come along for a ride before the new school year begins. Each ride ticket is $4.

06.01.2022 Double Heading steam trains Billy J and Jonesy passing Santa fe

05.01.2022 Bulla Hill Railway will be operating this Sunday 21st. Due to the current COVID restrictions all visitors will need to sign in on entry and wear masks. The kiosk will not be operating. Please be patient, delays may be experienced as we limit the number of people waiting for a train ride.

04.01.2022 A selection of members projects: they are all G gauge items. The first is a Shay logging locomotive that will be steam fired. The second is also a Shay locomotive but electric powered and is getting new gears and mechanical overhaul to improve operation while the last image is the completed thistle picker person wagon from a previous post.

03.01.2022 Sunday 18th August is our run day. Come along for an afternoon out but make sure you rug up! You may also spot a few changes around the track

03.01.2022 Just an update on our recent break in. A couple of members obtained permission and were able go down to the site to repair the damaged caused. Police also attended and dusted for fingerprints. We were also able to take stock and discovered that our set of battery powered Ryobi tools (18V and 36V) and chargers as well as a couple of 4 stroke whipper snippers were also taken. This represents more than $3000 in replacement costs. We would ask all to be on the lookout for anyone... offering Ryobi tools for sale on the cheap. Particularly in and around the Hume Shire area. If anyone has any information that could assist we would be grateful. Thank you to all who have offered their support and willingness to come to the railway when we are all able to safely do so.

02.01.2022 Great day was had by members having a play day with their own locomotives.

01.01.2022 It is disheartening that we have to deal with the actions of some low life during the current lockdown. The railway has had a break in and a welder (possibly other tools) have been stolen. Together with the damage when these reprobates broke in, this is a cost that the Society can do without, considering we have had no income from March. Keep an eye out for what I hope will be updates on various projects that our members are working on while in lockdown. As a teaser, have a look at a G scale model of a Thistle picker person carrier.
