25.01.2022 It may be the end of NAIDOC Week 2020 but there’s still plenty of events happening at Museums Victoria. On Wednesday 18 November at 6pm, join a select group of the contemporary collecting team as they present the objects and storylines that document the pandemic in Victoria for future generations. We look forward to welcoming you back soon with our stunning Wominjeka mural on display out the front of Melbourne Museum. The mural is a collaboration between Tati Tati artist Brendan Kennedy and Museums Victoria, featuring Bunjil/Wiripil and Waa/Wangi. In Tati Tati language Wangi is the crow and Wiripil is the eagle. 13.01.2022 Sharing Indigenous knowledge is important to me. I feel the need to pass on knowledge so it’s never lost. For me, NAIDOC Week brings this into focus. NAIDOC Week gives me an opportunity to honour the people of the Kulin Nation the traditional custodians of the land we live and work on, where the museum now stands. In this interview with archivist Nik McGrath, long-standing Museums Victoria staff member Aunty Veronica Barnett shares stories from a rich and colourful life, from growing up with a traditional lifestyle to performing as a dancer with fire and snakes to exhibiting her artwork and working at Museums Victoria, where she embraces the opportunity to impart her knowledge to those from all walks of life.

06.01.2022 The kooyang (eels) and turtles in our Milarri Garden pond are making the most out of these sunny days! These photos were taken yesterday by our wonderful Visitor Engagement Officer Joanie during our daily eel feeding session. The daily eel feeding presentation is on at 1:45pm each day.
