17.01.2022 As promised our new mascot Johnny 5 is now alive! He moves about and can shake hands, his eyebrows move and next he will be programmed to speak. We are hoping to have him say hello in multiple languages. Keep watching as our wonderful young adults program, code and build this very cute robot as part of their Bionics, Robotic learnings at the centre. ... For more information please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] for further classes and enrolment information. We are running Bionics 101 in the school holidays 7-14 years. $5 per student - Thu 1st and 8th October. Bookings are necessary due to Covid-19 safe plan management and social distancing requirements.

17.01.2022 YOU HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CHANGE THE WORLD. This is our project for October/November. "How can I do this?" you might ask. We're focussing on 50 WAYS TO BE KIND. Use ideas on the poster below to think about how you might be able to change your world through random acts of kindness.... You may like to tell us about yours on one of our 50 WAYS cards (available at Burton Community Centre). We're going to make a display. We'd love to hear from you. See more

The last AGM in the Burton Community Centre with a new Community Hub in the plans for building mid 2021. I walked around before guests arrived and video’d the exhibition. Not a professional job but depicts the evening well. The Exhibition is up till Friday morning this week if anyone would like to stop by and take a look. Eve...ryone welcome. Thankyou to everyone for the beautiful send off and gifts and flowers. It’s been an honour to support the community out of the Burton Community Centre the past 5 years. Until we meet again

12.01.2022 Great news! Burton Community Centre has been chosen along with other Community Centres as a semi finalist in the Loneliness Cure Awards. We couldn’t be more proud. The Our Strength Diring Covid-19 project nominated for this award has shown us the resilience, strength and social connectedness that can be realised during crisis and challenging times. This project is on display till Thursday afternoon this week. ... As well you can see the Our Strength during drought project that is borrowed to demonstrate the cross collaboration between States Qld and SA. Both projects are also nominated for a Federal Resilience Award announced in April 2021. Thankyou to my friend and past colleague Dr Anne Smith for allowing me to use her PhD resilience model ‘Resilience Through Images’.

11.01.2022 Thankyou to everyone that came to our AGM, Exhibition and my farewell. In a few short seconds 5 years has flown by, I’ve enjoyed every minute as your Community Development Coordinator and feel very blessed for all the friends I’ve gained across those years. Thankyou for your support, laughs and gifts lastnight. I was very spoilt. ... I will see you in sunny Qld for a visit sometime. Best of wishes to everyone and I will return to see our new Community Hub in 2021. All the very best Chris xx
