18.01.2022 The #jobkeeper extension payments are now confirmed to commence from fortnight beginning 28th of September. Businesses will need to retest their turnover to be eligible for the period of Extension 1 payments finishing on the 3rd of January. From here businesses will need to test their employees eligibility at either Tier 1 or 2 payment rates based on the hours worked on average in the four weeks of pay periods before either 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020. ... If an employee works more than 20 hours in the above test they are considered a Tier 1 employee and they will receive a new payment amount of $1,200 per fortnight. If an employee works under the 20 hours average they will be considered a Tier 2 employee and will be paid at the rate $750 per fortnight. What to do next? keep making payments based on the current rate till fortnight ending 27th September complete the decline in GST turnover test for the September Quarter identity if your employees are at Tier 1 or Tier 2 rates and then begin payment at the new amount from fortnight commencing September 28th until 3rd of January reach out for help and support if you need

07.01.2022 Further to our last post on upcoming changes to #JobKeeper commencing September 28th you must meet further decline in turnover tests to be eligible for the next two rounds of stimulus. For the first extension period you will need to demonstrate actual GST turnover has fallen in the September quarter (July - September) against the comparative period commonly this period last year. In the second payment period commencing from January 4th you will again have to demonstrate th...e decline in turnover test for the December quarter (October December). In addition there has been an extension to the existing scheme to include eligible employees who meet the employee test from 1 July 2020. This is great news for employees who may not have been initially eligible. Please note these changes are subject to legislation being passed which is likely to land in the coming weeks. Still not sure how this affects you book in a free call back with our team. #smallbusiness #covidstimulus

06.01.2022 It has been announced today that the JobKeeper subsidy has been extended until March with some slight variations in order to continue to support business throughout this tough time. What are the key changes? The standard $1,500 per fortnight subsidy will be replaced with a two tier system in order to ensure subsidy is provided fairly to workers after it was discovered many individuals were effectively getting a pay rise through the scheme.... When do the changes come into place? After the intial JobKeeper legislation is completed on September 27th their will be a two phased timing approach in order to wean businesses off government support. The first phase will be between September 28th and January 3rd in which full time workers will have a reduced subsidy of $1,200 per fortnight and those working less then 20 hours per week will move to a reduced $750 per fortnight payment. The second phase will commence on January 4th and run until March 28th in which their will be a further reduction to $1,000 per fortnight for full time employees and $650 per fortnight for those working less than 20 hours per week. What do I need to do as a business owner? You will need to demonstrate the relevant decline in turnover test in both the June and September quarters to be eligible for the JobKeeper payment in the December quarter. You will again need to demonstrate you have met the turnover test up till December 31 in order to continue to receive the subsidy into 2021. From the fortnight beginning September 28th you will need to ensure your payment amounts are updated in your payroll based on your employees hours worked and ensuring it reflects the new subsidy amount for that employee. If you need any help getting your head around #jobkeeper get in touch with our team.
