17.01.2022 Parents of medically fragile kids are all hoping that this fear of the Coronavirus raises awareness about how we feel all the time - especially this time of yea...r as we head towards flu season. The things that you need to do to protect your family will protect ours as well. Always frequently wash your hands, sneeze or cough into your elbow, wash your hands after wiping your nose,stay home when you are sick, vaccinate including your once a year flu shot. If you have to go somewhere when you are sick (like the emergency department) - then for the sake of others put a mask on and keep your distance. We use the same emergency department and facilities as you do. Charlie now four, has had around 80 hospital admissions and while he’s had some big heart surgeries and strokes most of his time spent in hospital has been from viral illness. His life and his friends lives on often on the line with every new viral illness - he has life threatening seizures and always needs help breathing. It really sucks- watching your child struggle and worrying about if they make it through. It sucks more for the many friends we have, who have said goodbye to their little humans because of viral illness. Charlie is well at moment and we are hoping to keep him away from hospital during this outbreak - and we can only do that if the community plays a role in the things I mentioned above. See more
