20.01.2022 Next months Community Hero is world renowned Paediatric General Surgeon Dr. Paddy Dewan. He will share his incredible work with International venture Kind Cuts For Kids. Since 1993 Kind Cuts For Kids have worked with many national and international organisations, to provide outreach care to countries in need of surgical and medical services. In that time they have made over 120 visits to developing countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America and... have treated over 3000 children. Recent trips include Mauritius, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Gaza, Cuba and South Africa. Paddy is also dedicated to putting CARE back into healthCARE, he has established HEIA (Healthcare Excellence Institute Australia) which advocates for a patient centric approach to healthCARE, while insisting that the workplace be safe for those providing care and particularly safe from bullying in the medical industry. 02.01.2022 Make time to connect! It can be terrifying to show up at networking events. Like those high school dances where you would look at all your friends out dancing, having fun and you were left standing there looking aimlessly into your drink wished the floor would swallow you up! Ok well you might not have been that awkward but I sure was! It takes all my courage and strength to walk into a group of unknowns. I often click 'interested' on the events, just to see the time and date... roll around and I would make a useless excuse not to go. Really it's just fear and sometimes it gets the better of me. So I get! You have been seeing these posts for months, seeing the events and opportunities to join us because we are strangers and the thought of walking into a room of us is so overwhelming. I totally understand! However I have realised that without those uncomfortable situations, terse conversations, awkward moments and gut-wrenching fear I would never of had the incredible opportunity to meet, connect, learn from and do business with the awesome people I get to now call my friends. Yes it will be hard for a few moments but I promise you give us 10 minutes and you will feel like you have known us your whole life. We are Melbourne's Most Welcoming Networking Community and we support, back and help each other!
