25.01.2022 And we think running the wing on a Libelle is a strenuous sprint!

25.01.2022 Give Dad a DOUBLE Flying Thrill for Fathers Day Double the thrill is what your Dad will get from the start of his Air Experience Flight at Caboolture Gliding Club. Flying close behind the tow aircraft, it’s a tail chase that feels just like the start of a dogfight all the way up to the exciting moment of rope release. Then the unique thrill of silent flight, with soaring views of mountains and bay to the Glasshouses, Bribie and Moreton Islands.... From $185 it's a memorable Fathers Day gift he’ll treasure forever. And you can buy it right now https://glidingcaboolture.org.au/index.php/gift-vouchers

21.01.2022 Trust two glider-flying ex-Cathay Captains to rise to a challenge. Following last week's wise crack when Barry Collins sent David Smith on his first sailplane solo, they did indeed celebrate their next flight together by wearing their airline uniform caps. Cleared for take off, cap'ns!

20.01.2022 To complement our shiny new Twin Astir, we've also refurbished the cockpits of our IS-28 with the same smart upholstery trim. Extra welcoming for pilots and passengers.

18.01.2022 Blue days are not our favourites for Caboolture soaring, but this past weekend has proved an exception to the rule. On Friday, as the NE sea breeze reduced cloud in the sky to the limited high haze seen here, two pairs of longtime flying friends in two club gliders scored two hours and twenty minutes of flying between them. IS-28 CQC as seen from Twin Astir IKW about 2500 feet just south west of the airfield. Saturday and Sunday delivered more of the same, with at least one air experience passenger enjoying the thrill of chasing another glider around a thermal - in that case motor glider FQZ in motor off soaring mode

15.01.2022 A good laugh. But this would never happen at Caboolture!

12.01.2022 Got an adventurous loved one who’s hard to find a present for? Here’s the ultimate been there, done that surprise for them. A vintage flight in a genuine military trainer! The Blanik two seat glider was used by BOTH the Soviet and US air forces to train their future fighter pilots, and now you can buy an air experience flight in our genuine classic of the Cold War era. An exhilarating yet easy-on-the-body experience with no parachute needed - what a way to end 2020 for you...r adventure-minded relative or friend! This and other flight gift vouchers can be purchased at the following link. Gift vouchers can be personalised and are immediately and automatically emailed to you. https://bookeo.com/glidingcaboolture/buyvoucher

09.01.2022 A big "thumbs up" to club member Paul Wilsher, who began flying with us only a couple of years ago and today won his professional wings with a Commercial Pilot Licence. Airspace clear for launch, Paul!

08.01.2022 FIRST SOLO! Congratulations to club member David Smith, who flew his first solo on Sunday. First solo in a glider, that is ... David's first, first solo was many years and thousands of logbook hours ago at the beginning of a high flying career in airline and military uniforms. Coincidentally, it's the same career path which led the instructor who sent David solo into gliding just a handful of years ago. Barry Collins and David wore the same airline uniform - Cathay Pacific - but their military experience is quite different. Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm for David, RAAF maritime patrol for Barry. Should we ask them to both wear they captain's caps the next time they fly in a glider together?

03.01.2022 From Caboolture we occasionally tow gliders by air to Watts Bridge, and we think that's a long tow!
