21.01.2022 WE’RE BACK!!! In the spirit of National Volunteer Week, we would like to thank our group of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time each week to create and tend to our wonderful community garden. After a long couple of weeks of being in isolation and away from our garden, we are now back at work on a Monday and Thursday morning practicing social distancing inline with the COVID 19 restrictions. And it feels so good to be back!!... We appreciate the service all our wonderful volunteers provide to our community #campbelltowncommunitygarden #nationalvolunteersweek #letyourgardengrow #covid19

20.01.2022 Last week we welcomed Peter to our team of volunteers The team were busy fighting the pesky aphids (tree bugs) that were feasting on our broad beans. Whilst the wasps and lady bugs were feasting on the aphids #thecircleoflife The team have also been rebuilding some of the beds that have been affected by the tree roots that shade our beautiful garden When building the beds, we used our very own home made organic compost. We then topped it up with some newspape...r, coffee grounds, geranium petals, cow slurry , chicken poo and some mix of soil. And we finished it off with some mulch soaked in Charlie Carp and Seasol. Now all we need to do is plant our seeds to grow lots more tasty veggies Our nectarine tree and brassicias were also covered to protect the abundance of fruit growing. And a BIG Thankyou to Lifeline at Narellan, where we finally found the perfect children’s table and chair setting that we have been able to #upcycle for our Secret Garden There is always something fun to do to keep our wonderful team of volunteers busy!! #campbelltowncommunitygarden #lifelinenarellan #secretgarden #upcycle #veggies #team #gardenbed #volunteers #letyourgardengrow

19.01.2022 Last Thursday the team visited the Wollongong Botanic Garden. We ventured down a multitude of paths to discover its many hidden treasures. The Garden’s 30 hectares has a number of unique and exotic plants and many garden collections each with their own characteristics. The Garden is committed to the conservation of native flora and has a range of programs aimed at protecting and conserving rare and endangered local plants and species. The team would love to revisit the garden... in spring during the peak flowering season and also when the white flowering-cherry trees are in bloom between August-October. Much to see and lots of walking. The team then drove down to Wollongong Harbour to enjoy the view and a very delicious lunch. Such a beautiful day in the sun together enjoying Mother Nature at her best #campbelltowncommunitygarden #wollongongbotanicgarden #native #flora #fauna #conservation #endangered #plants #mothernature #letyourgardengrow

If you know Von or frequent the store she works at, be sure to stop in and give her a shout out for the amazing kindness she has shown towards the visitors to their store, especially our most vulnerable community members who need our help and support during this tough time.
