25.01.2022 Working some weak thermals with Bradley today before rain moved in.

25.01.2022 Twas a good day for some wave XC flying. There should be at least a couple more Canberra GC flights yet to be claimed.

24.01.2022 Very pleasant #gliding today with thermals to 8000 feet. Plenty of long squiggles on the Naviter SeeYou flight recorder app!

24.01.2022 Our two seater #DGFlugzeugbau glider on aerotow! If you want to come for a ride as a passenger email: [email protected] https://www.instagram.com/p/CHhscEQDwqM/?igshid=4wjfbsenui3g

24.01.2022 This video misleads re the overall wave strength today. Most had a morning struggle in weak conditions.

23.01.2022 The last goodbye to the Qantas Queens of the Sky - thanks for sharing Owen

22.01.2022 More September 5th activity

22.01.2022 Disappointing news for any member who had Omarama on their bucket list

22.01.2022 Due to the covid-19 situation, we will not be conducting air experience flights or aviation starter pack flights. We will not be selling either of these at present. If you have bought a voucher, we will be extending the expiry date by the period of shutdown.

21.01.2022 Winter Solstice Flying @ Bunyan.

21.01.2022 Operations Saturday 15th August Cancelled due to inclement weather forecast. Cooma has recorded 17mm overnight with more rain and low cloud throughout the day.... Sundays weather is looking much better however due to recent rain both in the past 24 hours and the previous 7 days Sunday ops may be effected due to Soft Wet Runways - I will post again tomorrow morning.

21.01.2022 One of the clubs training aircraft turning final at Bunyan

21.01.2022 Operations Saturday 15th August highly unlikely due to forecast rain at Bunyan - Final decision by 7:45am Saturday Morning and will be posted here plus the clubs members forum page and TeamUp

19.01.2022 The CGC AGM held in the Bunyan Hangar was well attended

19.01.2022 Footage of a previous rally at Camphill before our gliders were vintage. I wonder if people will be interested in what we do at next years vintage rally in 70 years time.

18.01.2022 Thursday 19th was nice, Thermals reported to 9000ft, several pilots reported weak wave; Friday 20th is a Wave Day, Diamonds Heights possible based on the forecast or even a new Australian record for a suitably prepared glider/pilot combination.

18.01.2022 Great cockpit view from one of our #Puchacz training #gliders above the Monaro Valley! https://www.instagram.com/p/CHTNfNbFNfA/

16.01.2022 Another #FlightSimulator2020 experiment! Can a #boeing 747 take off and land here at Bunyan Airfield? If you kick off the passengers and baggage, empty 80% of the fuel and fly into a 40 knot headwind with -10 degree temp, well the big fella has no worries!

16.01.2022 Tuesday 8th Sept - Wave was Forecast, Thanks to Tug Pilot Dave a few flew, most were successful

16.01.2022 A small but happy band of pilots flew a little too early yesterday, before the cirrus cloud cleared and the cumulus started popping, however most achieved 2-3hrs airborne. Thanks to James G who launched us.

15.01.2022 Flying high over Bredbo in lee wave lift, 4 Aug 20. Join our club and learn to glide in one of the premier sites in Australia, both scenically and meteorologically!

14.01.2022 Operations Cancelled for 9 Aug. Weather forecast very unfavourable!

14.01.2022 INTERESTED IN GLIDING? We are again offering Air Experience Flights! All visitors please download the linked file to check your ability to meet Covid-19 requirements, here: https://nls264.wixsite.com/canberra-gliding/pax ... Cost details for both our trial flights, or further training options are here: https://nls264.wixsite.com/canberra-gliding/costs

14.01.2022 Adhering strictly with Covid19 restrictions, Canberra Gliding Club emerged from hibernation yesterday. 10 members at the field enjoyed a late autumn soaring day. Col Vassarotti and Stewart May made best use of the weak lift and all pilots that flew came back with smiles on their faces. Thanks to Dave Torrington for the launches.

13.01.2022 Fabulous roll clouds on the NSW south coast. Gliding uses atmospheric lift in many forms, why not try a flight with us? https://www.facebook.com//Clou/permalink/3551419388271037/

13.01.2022 If I cant fly it I may as well polish it

12.01.2022 Another Wave Day @ Bunyan - Someone has to do it

11.01.2022 Sunday 8th Operation is confirmed on

11.01.2022 Operations on Sunday 16th August 2020 cancelled due to the Soft Wet Runways and continuing forecast inclement weather conditions. There will be better days

11.01.2022 The weekend 5th/6th September is looking promising, the best weekend forecast for about a month. Unfortunately due to Covid Restrictions its members only at this stage and masks required all dual flying except for members of the same family, BYO masks. Members planning to attend please make your intentions known on TeamUp... so that the duty crew know your coming and plan accordingly. See more

11.01.2022 We had a great return to gliding today at Bunyan, all pilots were sufficiently current to fly solo, since thats the only flying we are currently able to have. It was a great team effort with lots of good humour. Thanks in particular to our tuggie for the 13 (14?) launches.

On Saturday two pilots flew to 10,000ft altitude, the limit without supplemental oxygen. On Sunday, 4 club members flew in 3 different gliders. One reached FL245 (24,500 ft), the two-seater 17,000 ft and the other single-seater 15,600ft. Photos show one of the 10,000ft Saturday flights, and again from that altitude on Sunday, looking North and West from near Colinton (between Bredbo and Michelago), NSW.

10.01.2022 What a cracker of a day at Bunyan; several members enjoyed flights of between 3 to 4 hours in thermal and there were reports of light wave too. In this photo Greg Weber works a thermal to 7500ft to be rewarded with views from Mt Kosciusko to Montague Island

09.01.2022 Sunday 8 Nov: A selection of photos from the ground...not enough students to change that situation today...let's rectify that!!

08.01.2022 Just a few glider trailers here at Narromine for the Narromine Cup 2020 (no Victorians)

08.01.2022 There are now approximately 30 gliders and 3 tugs at the 2020 Narromine Cup Week; unfortunately that wonderful looking sky disappeared mid afternoon, it was great while it lasted.

07.01.2022 You are never too old to try gliding!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/www.vintagegliderclub.org/permalink/3803558382996132/

07.01.2022 Glider Launching @ Bunyan 21/06/20

06.01.2022 During this time of Covid-19 Hibernation and planning for our return to the skies lets recall some past events. While doing overdue decluttering I came across this article in the May 15th 2013 edition of the Monaro Post, Who remembers that weekend? Were you there? ... Please add any photos of this or other Courses, Camps and Regattas you find in the coming weeks.

06.01.2022 Operations on Saturday 7th March 2020 cancelled; operations on Sunday and Monday (ACT Long Weekend) still planned, watch the site for any changes.

04.01.2022 We have now re-commenced training however visitors are still unable to fly with us, unless they join as temporary members with an Aviation Starter Pack (details available here: https://nls264.wixsite.com/canberra-gliding/costs ) Yesterday we had the pleasure of introducing our newest member Sree to gliding.

03.01.2022 Operations on 22 August 2020 are cancelled due to the poor weather. The falling snow should make for some scenic flights when the weather improves.

02.01.2022 Steve and daughter Rhea about to take off for Rheas first flight in a glider. She enjoyed it so much that they had a second flight later in the day.

02.01.2022 Operations Sunday 12 July Rain is forecast later in the day, the duty crew will be there and ready for earlier launching - Members Only - We are still following Covid19 health protocol.

01.01.2022 Sunday conditions resulted in first wave flights for our newest member MW, and also our father and son team of Phil and Greg. Two experts had extended flights in wave in their own JS-1 sailplanes (shown in the launch queue photo) and two other members had good solo wave flights in club sailplanes. A couple of launches failed to contact sustainable wave as it wasnt completely reliable.

01.01.2022 After the AGM members went flying - it was a surprisingly good day under high Cirrus.

01.01.2022 The #canberraweather is heating up and that means our gliders can stay in the air for hours on end. Click below if you want to try out #flying. https://nls264.wixsite.com/canberra-gliding/pax
