23.01.2022 Be still, beating heart, the blue wrens are back! @songofanni snapped this splendid fairy wren looking, well, splendid in his bright breeding plumage. These tiny little birds are often heard before they're sighted, darting into the scrub when they see humans. Keep an eye out for them as you walk up the hill to the lighthouse, and in the gardens around the cottages. Love them, we do! Oh, and we recommend booking ahead for your lighthouse tour! We're running smaller tours numbers (for social distancing) which means tours fill up quickly. Hop onto our website to secure your tickets.

23.01.2022 It’s HOLIDAYS and we couldn’t be happier But we’re also a bit concerned about being able to accommodate all our lovely lighthouse visitors during the next couple of weeks. Right now, due a certain virus that won’t be named, we can only take 8 guests on each tour. That means a lot of people will drive all the way here, only to miss out on climbing the historic Cape Nat Lighthouse Trust us, you want to avoid missing out, so please jump on to our website and book ahead. ... Hot tip : the first and last tours are always the quietest! You’ll love it. The kids will love it. And you’ll get some epic photos, just like @lexisargeant did when she visited last weekend

23.01.2022 Spring-spiration as you #wanderoutyonder Australia's South West are spot on, there's epic whale watching from the top of Cape Nat Lighthouse, and from the walk trails nearby. https://www.australiassouthwest.com//top-10-things-do-spri

22.01.2022 They're back! Thousands of whales migrate through Geographe Bay from August to December each year, and cause we're sitting on a cape 100 metres above sea level with 270 degree ocean views, the lighthouse is an awesome spot to watch the whales cruise by. Epic photographer Dylan Dehaas IG/@dylan.dehaas spotted this southern right mother and calf in the shallows off the coast between Dunsborough and Cape Naturaliste. An estimated 3,000 southern right whales visit southern Aust...ralia every year. Still critically endangered, females can have a calf every three years. See these gentle giants in Geographe Bay throughout spring as you #wanderoutyonder. Jump aboard a whale watching charter or head to a land-based lookout such as Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, Busselton Jetty or Point Piquet. For more info about whale watching, ask our friendly guides on your lighthouse tour!

22.01.2022 Big thanks Australia's South West for naming us as one of the Top 10 Things to do in Spring! The whales watching and wildflowers are incredible right now, so do yourself a favour and jump aboard a guided lighthouse tour. Bookings recommended, especially at weekends. https://www.australiassouthwest.com//top-10-things-do-spri

22.01.2022 Incredible photo by @chanchos_adventures of Cape Naturaliste's waters from above These rocky waters highlight how essential lighthouses are to the safety of our sailors.

21.01.2022 Sometimes we have sideways rain, 100+ kilometre gusts and chilly-to-the-bone nights. Then come amazing winter days like this Tim Campbell Photo

21.01.2022 There's nothing like wintry weather for an authentic lighthouse experience. Four seasons in a day, sideways rain, a new 'windswept' hairdo, glimpses of sunshine and some ripper sunsets! The lighthouse keepers worked in every kind of weather, so we honour them by running tours, rain, hail and shine. We love it, we do! Tim Campbell Photo

20.01.2022 When guests dress to match the lighthouse door! Vandermeerkat We have guided lighthouse tours running every half hour all week, and in exciting news, we've spotted the first few whales from the lighthouse tower! Humpbacks, blues and southern right whales are making their annual migration and we'll see tens of thousands of them in the next few months. Just another fantastic reason to #wanderoutyonder and climb* your favourite lighthouse! *bookings are a very good idea

20.01.2022 Too cute not to share Thanks for tagging us in your happy snaps, @wanderingwilsons, we hope the memories stay with you for years! Book ahead and jump aboard a guided lighthouse tour next holiday... here at Cape Nat you get that magic mix of amazing natural beauty with some cool maritime history and stories of survival thrown in. Just the thing for creating epic holiday memories.

19.01.2022 This is the real-deal, original lighthouse. Very little has changed since 1903 - we're running on electricity rather than kerosene, and the three cottages no longer house families. But we're still relying on the meticulous craftsmanship of the Chance Brothers of Birmingham. The lamp may have changed over the years from a kerosene flame to a powerful LED globe, but we still use the original crystal Fresnal lens, mercury bath and clockwork mechanism to turn the lens 24/7. It's ...still the same locally quarried limestone blocks. Join us on tour for an up-close look at the enormous lens, to climb original stairs and stand on the balcony the lighthouse keepers once stood on, looking out to sea. Only a handful of working lighthouses in Australia are open for public viewing, and this is one of them. It's maritime history in the making! Shot by Loky (IG)

18.01.2022 Middle of winter, and we still get magic days like this! When you visit Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse for a guided lighthouse tour, be sure to allow enough time to check out the beautiful walking tracks surrounding the area. @songofanni took a stroll along the Whale Lookout Walk and was lucky enough to see mothers with their calves, breaching . Cape Naturaliste is the northernmost point of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge and separates the relatively sheltered waters of Geographe Bay from the swells and currents of the Indian Ocean. The popular Whale Lookout trail incorporates boardwalks and lookouts with views over the ocean and whale watching opportunities from June to early December. Be sure to put it on your list, when you #wanderoutyonder!

18.01.2022 It's International Lighthouse Day this Saturday - the perfect excuse for a visit! The Dunsborough Rural Fire Brigade will be setting up the fire truck for the kids to climb on and a sausage sizzle. Jump on the two-way radio, broadcasting to over 392 lighthouses all over the globe, as the Amateur Radio fellas will be set up in the cottage all weekend. The Cape Nat Lighthouse team will donate the $5 Heritage Pass (entry fee) to the Fire Brigade. Sausage sizzle available with ...all proceeds also going to the Firies. If you'd like to do a guided lighthouse tour we recommend booking ahead to guarantee a spot: https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/ Tim Campbell Photo

17.01.2022 You can see why it's epic whale spotting up here on a calm day - this is the view from the lighthouse balcony Last year our guides recorded over 1,000 sightings, and it's estimated that 35,000 whales cruise around our coastline each year. Amazing! @wow.perth Now, if you join us on a lighthouse tour, first we recommend you book ahead. One of our lovely guides will walk you up the hill, sharing stories from the olden days and the hardships of living as a lighthouse keeper.... You'll climb the lighthouse and have a few minutes on this beautiful balcony to drink in the view, take photos and watch for whales. The guided tours are awesome, but if it's fully booked you could buy a Heritage Pass instead which takes in the view from the platform (pictured) but doesn't go inside the lighthouse. https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/

16.01.2022 A work of art... The Cape Naturaliste lighthouse first order Fresnel lens, which is still in use today. This twelve-tonne behemoth travelled the seas all the way from England to Australia, crafted from crystal to refract and magnify lamplight. 117 years later it's utterly irreplaceable and still doing a fine job of keeping sailors safe. You'll get quite close to it on a guided lighthouse tour, watching it turn, turn, turn. Bookings are strongly recommended as we're still in ...school holidays, jump onto our website to secure your preferred time. 14.01.2022 For 117 years people have been looking through this window, peering out at sunshine and storms. The first hundred or so years, it would have only been the lighthouse keeper and his close family. Nowadays this is one of the few Aussie lighthouses you can enter and climb on a guided tour. With school holidays starting, and social distancing measures, these tours fill up quickly so please be sure to book ahead - online or by calling us on 9780 5911. https://www.margaretriverattr...actions.com//cape-naturalist/ Catch you at Cape Nat soon! And big thanks @wow.perth for the awesome piccy!

13.01.2022 Say "cheese!" It looks like @cutnyakiasha had fun checking out the historic Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse precinct... thanks so much for tagging us! There are two options when you visit - buy a Heritage Pass for a small fee (it helps us with conservation projects) and you can walk around the lighthouse and take in the ocean views from the nearby deck. Or splurge a little on a guided lighthouse tour, a 30 minute walk with one of our specialist guides who'll share riveting stories from yesteryear! Either way, we can't wait for you to visit

13.01.2022 It was a wild and lonesome cape back in 1903 when the lighthouse was commissioned. Three lightkeepers and their families called the cottages home, and they'd grow their own veggies and home school their children, as Dunsborough was a half day journey by horse and buggy, and food was delivered but once a month. Nowadays it's an easy 15 minute drive from town to the lighthouse, along a beautiful sealed road with farmland views along the way. Gourmet meals and luxury accommodati...on within spitting distance. The lighthouse keepers wouldn't know themselves! You too can relive a slice of history on a guided lighthouse tour, climbing Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and hearing stories from the old days. Be sure to book ahead though, to ensure a place on a tour. Call 9780 5911 during business hours or book online at our website. IG/lexisargeant https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/

12.01.2022 Don't let the sunny skies deceive you - we often have a roaring sou'westerly out on the Cape. Bring a warm jacket or raincoat on tour, and be prepared for a new hairdo! @ashgreaves (on IG)

12.01.2022 Springtime in the south west is magical, a great time to explore the coast. So what would the perfect spring day exploring Cape Nat look like? Start with coffee and a morning swim at Bunker Bay, then walk along the tracks to Cape Naturaliste. Climb Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse on a guided tour, picking up some gifts at the shop. Lunch at Eagle Bay Brewing Co or the new Meelup Farmhouse. A wine and gin tasting at Wise Wine. Walk Meelup to Eagle Bay or Bunker Bay - depending how energetic you're feeling, then cool off with a swim in the aquamarine waters of Meelup. Bliss! @melaleuca_girl

10.01.2022 The view from up here One of our wonderful tour guests filmed this... and she was lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins too. Thanks @songofanni for visiting and sharing! We hope you had a wonderful time.

10.01.2022 IG/nayaspictures shared this glowing photo from her visit to Cape Naturaliste and the nearby trails. "The walking trails in Cape Naturaliste are absolutely stunning, you can see lots of wildlife I took this shot in November last year, we were lucky enough to see some whales putting on a show for us also " Even though the whales are sadly not gracing us with their presence just yet (they'll make a splash around August!), there are great walking tracks you can hop on from Cape Naturaliste. One of these trails can take you all the way to the iconic Sugarloaf Rock, and this particular one is wheelchair and pram accessible.

10.01.2022 Throwback to summer, which IG/yulinelaine spent in the glorious @margaretriver region, photographing a delicate piece of origami for each place she visited We love her clever creativity! Spring is here again, and it's lovely to see whales from the lighthouse tower again, and to welcome you as you #wanderoutyonder. Remember if you're keen to do a lighthouse tour, please book ahead, even just the night before, as guided tours are filling up very quickly. Call us on 9780 5911 during business hours or hop onto the website. https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/

10.01.2022 Repost from Yallingup beachside accomodation 160 Steps "This limestone beauty is over 100 years old and is a must-do! Only 13km from Dunsborough town centre you can enjoy sweeping ocean views from the new observation deck... or better still climb the 59 stairs for breathtaking panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Cape Naturaliste & the Geographe Bay coastline" Thanks 160 Steps - we're glad you loved visiting!

07.01.2022 They're smiling now, imagine the beaming grins when they reach Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, five days from now! Cape to Cape Explorer Tours start their 134km Cape Track walks here in the north, and it's brilliant to see so many West Aussies taking up the challenge this winter. West Aussies who might otherwise be holidaying overseas are discovering our own back yard, and absolutely loving it. #wanderoutyonder? You bet! PS you don't have to do the 134km walk to enjoy a lighthouse visit! Guided lighthouse tours run every half hour, daily all year round except Christmas Day. Bookings are a good idea, we'd love to welcome you soon.

07.01.2022 "Say cheese!" Big grins in front of the big red door. @homemaker_queen didn't make it inside the lighthouse, but enjoyed the walk tracks nearby. To make sure you get your preferred tour time, book ahead at our website. Fully guided tours take about half an hour and include plenty of historic stories and a climb to the top of the lighthouse where you're treated to a fabulous ocean view. https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/

05.01.2022 Autumn, you were awesome! Amazing sunsets, warm days and crisp nights. Saying that, we're pretty stoked about winter - getting lashed by storms, sideways rain and snuggling up with hot chocolates. We're open for tours whatever the weather. The lighthouse keepers worked through all kinds of storms, and it's such a thrill standing on the balcony watching fronts roll in. Bliss! We're currently taking a maximum six guests on each tour, so be sure to book ahead to guarantee your p...referred time. IG/georgia_sattler at Sugarloaf Rock, enjoying one of Autumn's most epic sunsets

05.01.2022 Thank you to all our recent guests for being part of our region's recovery. Each time you visit Cape Naturaliste or Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, one of the four local caves or Forest Adventures adventure ropes course, you're helping us keep these incredible sites going, and we really appreciate it. Of course you're also staying in local resorts, holiday parks or cabins, eating at our cafes and restaurants, and buying from wineries, breweries and shops. Working in tourism, everyth...ing came to a standstill in March, and it's such a joy to be sharing this beautiful region with you once again, and to see local businesses bouncing back. So to all our lovely visitors, thank you! We are so grateful to have you back. And big thanks to Nicola Meath @nicolameathphotography for this pic from her recent trip. We're glad you had a great time!

03.01.2022 The wild west coast is as dramatic as it is pristine. This is the glorious Sugarloaf Rock, just a 3km walk from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse along an accessible path. This coastline has seen everything from wild storms eroding the beaches to stunning summers days, and the lighthouse has helped guide mariners past the Naturaliste Reef. Tour the lighthouse and maybe spot a whale from the balcony, but be sure to book ahead and weekends and school holidays sure get busy. Call us ...on 9780 5911 or book online via our website. Thanks to @expsdearth for the ripper photo! https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-naturalist/

01.01.2022 The calm before the storm Two massive cold fronts battered Cape Naturaliste recently, and the strongest gust recorded at our lovely lighthouse was a whopping 128 kilometres per hour. Normally we'd get an intense but short-lived burst of wind, but the latest storm had sustained 100km+ winds all day! This lovely photo was captured by @heightened_advantage looking over Cape Naturaliste with the lighthouse a mere speck and the Indian Ocean in the background.
